The King's College School Wimbledon is located in a calm and respectable area of ​​London and is designed for mixed education of children from around the world aged 7 to 18 years (the main program is 7-18 years old - offered to boys, girls can study at Courses Sixth Form from 16 to 18 years). The educational institution was founded in 1829: the institution moved to its present place in 1897, and today it occupies a large ancient mansion (the date of construction dates back to the 18th century) surrounded by green parks, gardens and lawns.

King's College School Wimbledon is deservedly considered one of the best schools in London: both in academic terms, and in the level of care for students, services and equipment. Over the past few years, more than 100 places in Oxford and Cambridge have been occupied precisely by the graduates of this school - this underscores the quality of educational programs and the professionalism of teachers. GCSE

A two-year course completing a part-time secondary education program in the UK and Northern Ireland is designed for 2 academic years (schoolchildren 14-16 years).

The course includes studying of compulsory subjects (such as mathematics and English, French, exact and natural sciences), and additional ones that the student can choose independently (additional foreign languages, creative disciplines). The GCSE Certificate (General Certificate of Secondary Education) allows you to continue your studies on the Sixth Form course and then go to the chosen university. The program completing the course of secondary school fills the gaps in knowledge and forms a stable, full-fledged system of knowledge in general subjects. The program also allows you to determine your tastes and academic interests, the most priority subjects - in the future it will help students to identify items for the Sixth Form and to choose a faculty and specialty for admission.

A-level

A course for high school students aged 16-18 is considered the most common form of studying in the Sixth Form in the UK, this is the real "gold standard" of British education. The program is academically complex and intensive, but the A-level certificate gives the student the right to enter even the best, most prestigious universities without additional examinations and entrance tests.

The course is designed for 2 academic years. During the entire course, students choose the subjects themselves: for the first year (AS-level) it's 4-5 disciplines, on the second of them there are only 3-4, which go to the final exams.

IB

The preparatory pre-university course IB (International Baccalaureate) is the international standard of education in the upper grades. The program provides an opportunity to prepare effectively and qualitatively for entering the university: the IB certificate is quoted around the world very highly, so it does not limit the graduate in choosing a university.

A total of 6 subjects are studied at a two-year course (for students aged 16-18): 3 at a standard level of complexity, 3 on a more complex, in-depth course (subjects and levels are determined by students independently). Additionally, students attend CAS courses (Creativity, Action and Service), TOK (general theory of knowledge, development of academic skills) and lessons on writing an extended essay (the volume of the finished essay should be at least 4000 words, the topic is approved with the supervising teacher).

Accommodation, meals, prices

The school offers a full-time form of education and does not provide its students with residences. With the assistance of our manager, you will be able to pick up a suitable English host family in London, and numerous city residences are opened for high school students.

All students of the school are assigned to one of the school homes (each with about 24 people). Between the houses are regularly held competitions, tournaments and quizzes, sports matches and academic competitions. Each House is managed by teachers and the main tutor, and a separate curator is provided for each group of students in 10-14 people. Curators and educators follow the academic performance and extracurricular activities of the wards, help to solve various issues, to create a friendly and warm atmosphere in the school.

Sixth Form students enjoy the greatest independence: for their studies there is a separate Center with the latest classrooms and laboratories, quiet classrooms for self-study, library and living rooms for rest.

The school is classified as selective: the reception is limited and conducted on a strict competitive basis. Regardless of the desired course, all applicants must undergo a personal interview, submit a report card with grades and recommendations from the previous place of study, and take exams. Entrance tests are almost always conducted in mathematics and English. Additional tests are appointed by the decision of the selection committee (the age of the student and his level of knowledge are taken into account).
