Education in secondary school and completion of the secondary education program give children the opportunity to obtain a valuable OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) certificate. A summer camp for children aged 4-12 is held on the basis of the school in July and August. Children spend on campus weekdays (Monday-Friday) from 9:00 to 16:00.

The educational program includes the following activities:

  • English: writing, reading, literate speech
  • Mathematics and calculations
  • Arts and sports: drama and theater, kung fu, dance, music, etc.

On Fridays, children usually go on exciting excursions, trips and walks for campus. All students receive branded T-shirts and memorabilia after the summer shift.

High school, grades 9-12 (Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) + Advanced Placement (AP)).

In the process of teaching subjects and preparing high school students, the J. Addison School strictly follows the requirements of the Ontario program for the formation and receipt of a certificate of secondary education. To obtain the Certificate (OSSD) students must successfully fulfill several mandatory requirements:

1. Earn 30 credits in the following subjects:

  • 18 credits for compulsory subjects
  • 12 credits for elective items

2. Successfully pass the tests (one of two options):

  • Standardized Ontario Literacy Skills Test (OSSLT)
  • The Ontario Literacy Graduate Course (OSSLC)

3. Public works (volunteering) for 40 hours.

Compulsory subjects and credits for them:

  • English language (1 credit per year, total 4 credits, 9-12 grades)
  • French as a second language (1 credit)
  • Mathematics (1 credit)
  • Science (2 credits)
  • History of Canada (grade 10, 1 credit)
  • Geography of Canada (grade 9, 1 credit)
  • Art (1 credit)
  • Health and Physical Education (1 credit)
  • Civil norms and career development (1 credit)
  • Subject of choice from list 1: social sciences, history of Canada and world history, career development skills, educational practice, English, French, third language (1 credit)
  • Subject of choice from list 2: health and physical education, business, art (music, drawing, theater and dance), educational practice, French (1 credit)
  • The subject of choice from the list of 3: science (for 11 and 12 classes), technology (from 9 to 12 class), educational practice, French (1 credit).

Public works are organized in close cooperation with non-profit organizations and charitable foundations. Students have the right to independently choose the direction of their activities and programs.

Since the Ontario Certificate of Education is somewhat different from the Advanced Placement (AP) program, the School has modernized the curriculum to bring the subject standards to international AP standards. Educational programs are developed by school teachers in collaboration with professors from universities and other higher education institutions. Successful mastering of the Advanced level program provides fundamental preparation for entering universities in Canada and another 21 countries in the world.

The Global Advanced Placement Program (AP) offers more than 30 subjects to choose from, including:
