Description of International School of Como

The Young International School of Como (Private School in Como) was opened in 2002: it is almost a unique case when a new educational institution was formed by an initiative group of parents and interested teachers. Since real estate and work in the district of the famous Lake Como is gaining popularity among international students, the question arises more often where is it possible to teach students  in Como? And the International School of Como (Private School in Como) - is an excellent option.

From the outset, the international school trusted the best specialists (teachers, curators, educators, administrators) invited from Milan. In just 14 years the school has grown and earned an excellent reputation, becoming an important player in the education market not only in Italy, but throughout Europe. They seek to create truly educated and cosmopolitan personalities, ready to live in a dynamic modern world, develop intellectual, social and emotional skills, prepare students from all over the world for a successful career and life. In the junior and middle classes, the International School of Como learns about 200 students, and high school graduates follow the pattern of the international IB program: it does not restrict them in choosing a university, as it is highly rated around the world.

  • In 2006, the International School of Como was accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization for the Primary Years Program (Primary Years Program)
  • The Middle Years Program was opened in 2009
  • Accreditation for summer programs for secondary school students was received in 2012
  • Since 2016, the senior classes, the program of preparation for the International Baccalaureate (IB) and admission to world universities are provided.

Students of junior classes and the first stages of secondary school (before Middle Years Program 3) wear a uniform uniform: the school works with an official supplier, where there are samples of any size for each student.

Primary classes (PYP, Primary Years Program)

This course has already been successfully taught in more than 100 countries around the world, and the International School of Como has bravely embraced the experience of foreign colleagues. This course is transdisciplinary, that is, all subjects for young students are taught not in isolation, but in connection with each other: thus, students easily and more firmly remember information, learn to search for logical and cause-effect relationships, actively develop critical, analytical thinking.

The course conditionally includes 5 blocks, harmoniously combined with each other:

  • Active learning (development of a desire for knowledge, for self-education and development)
  • Relations (attention to the psychological mood of students and their emotional health, the development of relations between students)
  • Key ideas (they are built on 8 basic principles of any research: form, function, cause, change, connection with other things, perspectivity, responsibility, reflection)
  • Knowledge (clearly defined plans, goals and objectives of each lesson, course, eduactional program, adherence to the intended path)
  • Skills (academic, linguistic, sociocultural and others).

Tuition fee depends on the age of the student and its corresponding class, program (prices are per 1 person for 1 academic year):

  • Pre-school education (Early Years) = 11940 €
  • 1 class = 15300 €

Middle Classes: Middle Years Program (MYP)

This educational stage is intended for children of 11-16 years old and is divided into 5 periods (MYP 1-5). Upon completion of MYP, students tend to move to the development of the IB program and are preparing to enter the world's universities.

Teachers closely follow not only academic success, but also the moral and psychological state of the students. Adolescence is one of the most problematic and complex: children can develop complexes, a sense of insecurity in themselves and their own strengths that will hamper them in development. Teachers of the International School of Como stimulate and inspire their wards every day, instilling in them a craving for knowledge and self-improvement.

The program is bilingual (English + Italian), and the training course includes the study of several foreign languages. MYP 1-2 are based on the Italian school course Scuola Media, to help students easily pass exams in Italian.

The cost of training depends on the age of the child and its corresponding class, program (prices are per 1 person for 1 academic year):

  • 6th grade = 18360 €
  • 7-8 classes (MYP1-2-3) = 18600 €
  • 9-10 classes (MYP4-5, 14-16 years, preparation for IB) = 19950 €.

A certificate with fairly high scores can even save an applicant from additional admission tests when enrolling in a university.

The curriculum includes 6 basic, key subjects: 3 are studied at a standard level of complexity, 3 - on a more advanced, in-depth. It can be a variety of disciplines: foreign languages, mathematics and exact sciences (at several levels), natural sciences, arts, literature, public and humanitarian courses.
