Founded in 1986, the International College of Tourism and Management (ITM) has become the country's first specialized private institution: it offers programs in the direction of hospitality and tourism. The college is part of the association along with European University and Manchester Metropolitan University, which emphasizes the high quality of education and excellent level of services. Additional control is exercised by the Federal Ministry for Lower Austria.

The International College of Tourism and Management (ITM) is located in Lower Austria, in the small but popular resort of Bad Veslau - the distance to Vienna is only 26 kilometers. Here, a lot of tourists are all year-round, and thanks to the elevation above sea level the air is especially clean, fresh and transparent, thermal springs are beating. Surrounding the city are the famous vineyards - local taverns (the so-called Heurigen) and farms in summer and autumn are invited to tasting young wine.

The learning process is aimed at mastering management from a practical and theoretical perspective, learning foreign languages. Individual approach to each student is practiced, its features and capabilities are taken into account, which allows to achieve impressive results in a short time. Powerful preparation in the course of practical classes enables graduates to quickly find a prestigious job in the specialty, to hold high positions in international companies, travel companies, hotel chains and premium hotels, for example:

Studying lasts 2 academic years, or 4 semesters (60 weeks). After 1 year, during the summer holidays, the internship is arranged for students - 13 weeks (the college helps the students with the search for a place for internships). In case of successful passing of final examinations and thesis students get a prestigious diploma officially recognized by the Federal Ministry of Education of Austria and highly quoted throughout the world.

Available specialties and directions are the following:

  • Hospitality and Tourism Management;
  • Entrepreneurship (Management in International Business);
  • Management of the centers of beauty and health;
  • Event Management;
  • Quality control;
  • Management of gambling.

Applications are received from students once a year (end of September). The academic year lasts from the end of September to the Christmas holidays (fall semester) and from the end of January to the end of May (spring semester). Students are engaged in modern, spacious classes, equipped with the necessary equipment. There is free access to the computer class, the Internet, its own library. Practical lessons are usually conducted in the kitchen or in a wine cellar, in a special service laboratory.

After two years of study and a diploma, students have the right to continue their education in partner universities:

I.International Business Management (Management in the field of international business).

This program creates highly qualified, experienced experts of international business and trade. Graduates have an excellent knowledge of foreign languages, understand the differences between countries, nationalities and cultures, are able to conduct business with a representative of any people. During the first year the following subjects are studied:

  • Accounting
  • Computer science
  • Foreign language: German, Spanish, Russian, English
  • Business Administration
  • Jurisprudence
  • Economy
  • Controlling.

For the second year, the subjects are the following (students choose one of the following specializations):

  • International Business Management
  • Business communication in a foreign language
  • World economy
  • International Marketing
  • International law in the field of economics.

The third year of study implies the learning of the following areas:

  • Analysis and statistics
  • International Logistics
  • Regional Business Studies
  • Strategic management / export and import
  • Coursework for a bachelor's degree.

After the third year of study, students form an independent review, report or research project based on data obtained at a partner university in Europe or the United States. The diploma of this course gives an opportunity to work in banks and insurance companies, real estate agencies, manufacturing and retailing companies, in the sphere of import and export.

II.Hospitality and Tourism Management (Hospitality and tourism).

Tourism in Austria is very developed, therefore the education of valuable workers in this industry is one of the priority directions of the educational system. In the process of teaching, leadership, business and communication skills are actively developing, students learn to work with various clients and guests in the service sector, learn foreign languages, different cultures and nationalities.

In the first year the general for all specialties are studied:

  • Economy.

In the second year the students choose their specialty (after the practice) and take the exams:

  • Tourism

  • International legislation

In the third year, the following subjects are studied, after which the course work is carried out:

  • Strategic management in the hospitality and tourism industry

  • Personnel management.

Accommodation, meals, prices

During their studies the students live in a small, cozy and comfortable hotel Panhans **** - it is part of the campus of the institution. It offers comfortable rooms for 1-2 people, amenities are included (WC and bathroom), many rooms have balconies that offer a picturesque view of the park and the foothills. On the ground floor there is a sports hall, tables for tennis and an access point to the Internet, on each floor there is a cozy lounge for rest with TV and upholstered furniture. Meals are usually organized on a boarding basis: on weekdays - three times a day, on weekends - only breakfast. Works both as a general student dining room and a small Courtyard bistro where you can have a snack, drink a cup of tea or coffee, and enjoy fresh pastries.

Additionally, the International College of Tourism and Management can help with the rental of apartments, a shared home or a guesthouse for several students. This option provides a greater degree of comfort and independence, but does not include regular cleaning and food (self-service only).

Subjects, specialties

Activities International College of Tourism and Management ITM

The students are offered ample opportunities for leisure, sports and outdoor activities. You can walk (on foot or by bicycle), swim in the pool with thermal water, go on a ski trip or do yoga. Interesting and informative excursions around Vienna and the Vienna Woods, sightseeing of key cultural and natural attractions, historical monuments are organized. There are also interesting events on the campus, fun games and competitions, quizzes and competitions, themed evenings and holidays. In the resort city, the nightlife is completely inactive - it's more of a sports and natural resort: nevertheless, there are several bars and pubs that students can visit on their own in their free time. Also in the city there is a bank and a post office, a supermarket.

The present gift for studying in the International College of Tourism and Management will be for fans of skiing and snowboarding - you can skate here from November to April. In summer the mountainous terrain is popular among fans of trekking, rock climbing and overnight stays with tents, you can play tennis or golf (from April to October).

Admission dates and extra charges

The cost of 1 academic semester is 4500 euros (excluding accommodation). An additional registration fee is paid (2000 euros), as well as a round-trip transfer (Vienna airport).

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Applicants must present the following documents:

  • School Certificate of Completed Secondary Education;
  • If possible, documents from a previous job, CV, employer references and letters of recommendation are provided;
  • A motivation letter of approximately 300-500 words in the form of an essay on the topic "Why do you want to work in the hotel and tourism business" (in addition you may be asked to undergo a personal interview);
  • Certificate of high level of English: TOEFL 500 or IELTS 6.0 and above.

Entrance examinations and tests are organized only for courses that are not part of the basic educational program. The Admissions Committee examines various types of documents and certificates: it can be documents from the school, a bachelor's degree (European or international type), diplomas of Canadian and American educational institutions.
