The Institute of Economics and Entrepreneurship was founded in 2014 on the basis of Lobachevsky University. IEP combines three main faculties of the university: economic, financial, management and entrepreneurship. The Institute combines all the experience formed by the teaching staff of the university over many years, and honors the established traditions.

The educational process in the UNN IEP is standardized according to the all-Russian education system. Couples last 90 minutes, the break is 10-30 minutes. Each semester ends with an examination session, which lasts 2-3 weeks. The workload of students is approximately 36-54 academic hours per week.

The schedule of classes for the semester and changes in the schedule are communicated to students either personally by the curator of the course, or remotely - through the student's personal account.

In total, 14 departments operate on the basis of the IEP:

1. information technologies and instrumental methods in economics;
2. mathematical modeling of economic processes;
3. management and public administration;
4. legal support of economic and innovative activities;
5. trade business;
6. finance and credit;
7. economic theory and methodology;
8. university management and innovation in education;
9. service and tourism;
10. world economy and customs;
11. mathematical and natural science disciplines;
12. culture and psychology of entrepreneurship.

Students and staff of UNN IEP take an active part in research conferences, which are held annually on the basis of the University. Teachers of the university take part in scientific conferences of regional, all-Russian and international levels. 

Scientific works of students and teachers are published in collections of conference materials, monographs and scientific journals.

• UNN IEP students can take part in international internships and study abroad.
• In 2014, two bachelor's degree programs in economics for foreign students were opened at IEP UNN. Training is conducted in English.

Upon admission to the UNN IEP, nonresident students and persons with preferential or other rights are provided with a hostel on the campus of Lobachevsky University.

Students of the IEP eat in the canteens of the university, which are located in the academic buildings.

Students of IEP UNN can become part of a large student family of Lobachevsky University. Each student can choose for himself any leisure activity according to his preferences. On the basis of the main university, the KVN movement was created.

The rights of students and the solution of any issues in the life of students are decided by the UNN Student Council. 

Every year various public events are held: concerts, competitions, sports competitions. Students visit theaters, museums and various excursions in an organized manner.

IEP conducts its main classes in 7 buildings of Lobachevsky University. All classrooms are equipped with modern furniture and the necessary equipment for conducting lectures. Each building is equipped with a sports hall, a library and a dining room.

Education in the UNN IEP is divided into several academic years, each of which, in turn, is divided into two semesters and two examination sessions. Students are provided with calendar holidays: winter and summer.

Of the expenses, prospective students should remember to pay for accommodation, meals and transportation costs.

For admission to the NIS IEP, the applicant must submit documents to the admission committee before July 11 (according to the entrance tests) or July 25 (according to the results of the exam). Documents can be submitted to the admissions committee in two ways: in person or remotely (through a personal account created on the official website of the university), and through the portal "Public Services". 

Documents to be submitted to the admissions office:

• Application for admission;
• Document on education (certificate or diploma);
• Identity and citizenship document (passport);
• 2 photos (standard size: 3x4);
• Documents confirming individual achievements;
• Documents confirming the rights to benefits and other special rights;
• SNILS (copy);
• Results of the Unified State Exam or internal written testing.

In 2022, only 217 state-funded places were allocated in the UNN IEP. Most of the places were allocated for the direction of study "Applied Informatics" - 45 places, followed by "Hotel Business" - 26 places.

Graduates of the Institute receive a state diploma of UNN, which is highly valued among employers. To increase the competitiveness of students, the management of the UNN IEP puts on the official website free and relevant vacancies in large organizations of the city. This practice helps to give experience to students in those areas where future graduates plan to work.

In addition, the UNN Career Center operates at Lobachevsky University.

Students of THE UNN IEP when studying for grades of "good" and "excellent", as well as students of privileged categories, can receive scholarships provided for by the basic regulatory and legal provision of UNN (7 types in total).
