Great Lakes Christian High School (GLCHS) is a high school for students in grades 9-12, located in Beamsville, Ontario, between Toronto and Niagara Falls. GLCHS is a boarding school, day school with over 65 years of experience: it is a welcoming community where friendships for life are formed.

Great Lakes Christian High School is the perfect environment for kids to grow up and feel safe. Dedicated teachers help children study, caring hostel mentors help them feel at home, and low occupancy allows all students to enjoy extracurricular activities. GLCHS provides education in a dedicated Christian environment based on a biblical worldview.

The school is located in Beamsville, a small town in the heart of the beautiful Niagara region. The school is surrounded by healthy countryside with fruit trees, green parks and vineyards. Beamsville has everything for students needs - grocery stores, library, pharmacy, restaurants, fast food, but if students want to go shopping or watch a movie, they need to drive approximately 20 minutes to Hamilton or St. Catharines. Children feel safe in Beamsville.

Quick overview: GLCHS offers courses at different levels according to the needs of the high school student, goals after graduation. The joint program provides valuable experience in a variety of locations - local companies, nonprofits, schools, political offices.

Students must successfully complete 30 high school credits to earn the Ontario High School Diploma.:

  • 18 compulsory;
  • 12 optional. 

Students must also complete at least 40 hours of community service and take the Ontario High School Literacy Test (OSSLT). In addition to the OSSD requirements, students must successfully study the Bible and exceed the minimum community service hours.

Many international students choose Great Lakes Christian High School as a place to develop and improve their English skills. GLCHS offers English as a Second Language lessons to strengthen students' English skills and support them as they adapt to new classroom environments. ESL students receive academic credits towards their diploma.

Accommodation, meals, prices

  • About half of GLCHS students live in hostels on campus, learning to live and work together.
  • Experienced teachers live in each residence, support students in their daily routine.
  • The homestay program includes a supervised training room, extra classes, and an outdoor gym.
  • The student center is located in the boys' dormitory and is a great place to relax and chat with friends and play table tennis.
  • Balanced meals are provided in the cafeteria 3 times a day. Each dorm has small kitchens for self catering in the evenings. Residences are closed during extended holidays (Christmas, March). Each residential building has a paid laundry service.

The GLCHS offers a rich, active student life that includes activities that go beyond the typical extracurricular programs. Students play basketball and badminton in the outdoor gym, participate in prayers, study the Bible, meet for group projects, and relax together in one of the common rooms playing table football or ping-pong.
