Admission to Cambridge requires careful in-depth academic preparation, high grades, real fascination with the chosen subject, excellent knowledge of English, willingness to defend your right to study at a prestigious university during a personal interview.
In 2008, Cambridge International Examinations launched Cambridge Pre-U programs, a qualification that offers in-depth study of subjects beyond the standard A-Level program. A number of independent, gymnasium, comprehensive schools have replaced A-Levels with Cambridge Pre-U in some subjects. The program has even gained recognition among Ivy League universities (USA).
Pre-University Program
Cambridge Pre-U is an educational program for schoolchildren over 16 years old, which offers the knowledge necessary for successful study at the university, forms the skills of self-study in preparation for undergraduate studies.
Cambridge Pre-U is available in 24 core subjects. The study of the main subject is a two-year program with exams at the end; short courses (usually one-year) are available in some subjects.
Cambridge Pre-U was developed with the participation of universities and higher education institutions: the course develops deep subject knowledge, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, independent learning, effective communication.
Schools can enrich their curriculum by offering Cambridge Pre-U Global Perspectives and Research (GPR), which is taught as two consecutive one-year courses: Global Perspectives develops research, thinking skills during the first year, prepares students for an expanded project in the second year (Research Report). Students can earn a Cambridge Pre-U diploma by completing the Cambridge Pre-U GPR with three core Cambridge Pre-U subjects (1-2 can be replaced by A-Level).
