Chetham's School Summer offers participants of summer programs an opportunity to live and study in Manchester, in one of the oldest music schools in the city, work with highly qualified teachers, and attend fascinating excursions and events.

Chetham's School is located in the city center - it is the largest specialized music school in the UK. Here is the oldest library in the world, where Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels met. The courses offer a combination of modern amenities and rooms amid medieval architecture. The central location of the lively city offers students the opportunity to explore local attractions: Cheltam Music School is located between the cathedral, shopping malls and the popular Hard Rock Cafe. Known for its industry, Manchester has been modernized over the past 20 years and quickly became one of the most important commercial and financial centers in the UK. Students enjoy a rich cultural life, attending events during the annual July International Festival of Manchester.

English Plus Multi Activity

English Plus Multi Activity is a typical summer program consisting of a variety of activities and sports. Courses designed and conducted by specialists include tennis, basketball, volleyball, swimming, photography workshops, dancing, football, drama.

English Plus Dance

English Plus Dance is a language program for students keen on dancing. Classes are held with the participation of a dance teacher: the program begins with the study of new movements necessary for the preparation of a dance program. The second part of the sessions allows students to practice their knowledge, rehearse numbers for the final performance. Studied styles include street dance, jazz, modern dance, musical.

The English Plus Dance program is available for ages 11-14 and 14-17. The curriculum includes:

English Plus Drama is a program for students who are interested in drama and want to improve their English. The curriculum includes the development of various elements of acting, including improvisation, pantomime, role-playing games. Students at the end of the course will play part of a famous play or a independently written dramatic work.

The English Plus Media (ASL) course combines learning English with real world experience and technically-creative learning. Students will participate in various media projects, including journalism, social networks, advertising, media production and editing, using English in a creative and expressive way.

  • Media research - 9 hours / week.

Advantages

Chetham's School Summer uses modern methods of learning English:

  • Teaching based on assignments - during these lessons, students use the language to complete assignments, reinforcing the acquired skills and applying them in natural situations, while communicating with the teacher and other participants.
  • S&S (Skills & Systems) - classes are aimed at expanding the possibilities of students' language awareness by carefully working on all language skills (reading, writing, listening, speaking), systems (grammar, phonology, lexical discourse), the use of materials related to preparation for the exam (KET, PET, FCE, CAE, TOEFL, IELTS).
  • CLIL (Integrated Learning Language and Content) - Students will learn about art, literature, science, history, geography in the UK, while activating their linguistic knowledge.
  • The language school offers classes on four levels - from elementary to upper intermediate level. On the first day of class, students are tested to make sure they are assigned to a group of the appropriate level. Students are also offered a special test for students with special needs.
  • The Linguistic Center offers the option of passing the Trinity College London English Language Exam (GESE) for courses lasting 10 days or more.
  • Students study in small classes for up to 16 people.

- for Foundation and Pathway programs, IELTS and TOEFL certificates are usually required, respectively

- the deadline normally closes in January, for TOP HEIs and, as a rule, in March in other universities
