  GCSE

  • Age of students: 14-16 years

Studying under the GCSE program at Bedstone College is implemented for two categories of students:

  • Students who have demonstrated the highest academic performance can study up to eleven subjects inclusive;
  • Students with an average level of grades form their schedule of 6-8 disciplines.

The GCSE program provides for two types of subjects - compulsory and those that students choose independently on an individual basis. Absolutely all students learn English, mathematics and at least one foreign European language. The choice offered disciplines such as:

  • English literature;
  • Spanish, German, French;
  • Tourism;
  • Entrepreneurship;
  • Design;
  • Communication technology;
  • Natural cycle sciences: biology, chemistry, physics;
  • Geography;
  • History;
  • Theater skills;
  • Art;
  • Music;
  • Sport.

In most cases, studying in the GCSE program, students study 5 subjects.

Since the school is quite small, an individual approach is not a formal statement, but a factual reality: every six weeks the teachers monitor the students' academic progress in detail, and then discuss successes and difficulties with all students in a confidential conversation with one another.

At the final stage of the course, all students become acquainted with the activities of the Career Department, and also automatically, together with their parents, become members of an independent organization that helps students to decide on their future profession. On the basis of the psychometric test, the recommendations of the teachers and the tutor, the students are determined with the subjects to be studied in high school.

  A-level

  • Age of students: 16-18 years

To ensure students have the opportunity to study the disciplines they like, Bedstone College offers teenagers a choice of about twenty A-level subjects. All classes are held in mini groups of six people, which allows teachers to support and inspire each student to work, maximizing their potential. This approach gives impressive results - 9 out of 10 graduates successfully enter the universities of their dreams.

Academic load is balanced in such a way that young people can gradually feel more responsibility for organizing their own learning process, are not afraid of freedom of choice, make effective decisions and are able to constantly maintain a high level of self-motivation to study. The emphasis on such features of education for high school students is based on the fact that these qualities of personality will help the students of the Bedstone school to take all the best during the upcoming university years.

The A-level course provides several forms of the educational process, among them:

  • Classroom lessons;
  • Field studies;
  • Sports, academic and cultural trips around the UK and beyond.

Since the program is fully focused on the successful entry and effective studying of students in universities, in addition to academic classes, it also includes the so-called career support for students. Within its framework, vocational guidance and organization of practical interviews with potential employers and universities are conducted. This allows students to make a final decision regarding their future work, being well informed about its main intricacies.
