Description of Stamford Endowed Schools

The Stamford Endowed Schools Association offers an interesting, slightly non-standard type of education - diamond-shaped (or Diamond). In 2 school buildings boys and girls from 2 to 18 years old study: primary (8-11 years) and senior classes (Sixth Form, 16-18 years) are organized according to a joint visiting system, but middle classes (11-16 years) are divided for men and women. It is offered as a boarding accommodation option (it is chosen by 15% of students), and stay on a daily form. The total number of children is 1,700 people: both British nationals and foreign students (about 20%).

The first school of this association - the men's Stamford School - was opened in 1532. In 1887, a women's department of the Stamford High School appeared, and in 2002 they were supplemented by a preparatory school for boys and girls aged 2-11, Stamford Junior School. School campuses still stand very close to each other, often use common infrastructure, hold joint events, holidays, seminars and lectures of invited specialists.

All three schools strive to bring up healthy, active and happy students: the students are brought up with a desire for study and self-development, new knowledge, discipline and self-confidence. Experienced, qualified teachers, educators, instructors help students constantly strive for more, achieve their goals and invent new ones. In schools there is a huge number of circles, sections and elective classes: almost every student plays at least 1 musical instrument, sports traditions are also strong (especially in rugby - the team regularly wins national and regional competitions).

All 3 school units regularly undergo strict scrutiny by the British Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Commission:

1) Stamford Junior School:

  • the quality and organization of the curriculum, the level of education and accommodation in the boardinghouse, the quality of teaching, the quality of childcare, working with parents, and the organization of extracurricular education.

2) Stamford School (boys 11-18 years old):

  • "Magnificent" score: learning conditions, childcare and safety, level of education and boarding school
  • Excellent score: the quality and organization of the curriculum, work with parents, the level of upbringing and development of students, the organization of extracurricular upbringing, the quality of school management, the quality of teaching, the quality of childcare
  • score "Good": academic successes of students.

3) Stamford High School (girls 11-18 years old):

  • ranking "Excellent" for all major indicators.

  • GCSE: The girls passed the exams for the highest A * - A grades in 61% of cases, the boys achieved the same excellent result in 53% of cases.

The official religion of the school is Anglicanism, but here students of any faith and confession can freely study.

In each class there are up to 16 students, and in the senior classes (A-level) - up to 10, not more.

A two-year educational course (grades 10-11, students aged 14-16) completing a part-time secondary education program and helping to prepare for higher-school education - the Sixth Form - and further to enter the university.
