Virginia Wesleyan University (VWU) is a small, private university located in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. The university was founded in 1961 and offers undergraduate programs in various fields of knowledge.

In addition, VWU has an Academic Support Center where students can get additional help with their studies, career counseling, and tips for developing study skills.

• VWU was founded in 1961 through the merger of two institutions of higher learning, the Portsmouth Conference College of the Methodist Episcopal Church and the College of the Norfolk Conference of the Methodist Church.

VWU has a unique direction – esports. Marlin Esports Arena for esports, located at the Jane P. Batten Student Center. It is equipped with 17 high-end gaming PCs with ASUS Prime Z390-P motherboards, 9th generation Intel i7 processors, 16GB of ADATA Gammix RAM, MSI GeForce RTX 2070 Armor GPUs, and 24-inch MSI Optix monitors.

Teams in VWU esports consist of 3-6 people depending on the specific game. Everyone is invited to participate in the team based on their interests.

• Funded by the U.S. government, the federal Pell Grant is based on students' financial need. The amount of the grant is determined on the basis of the calculation carried out by the state.
• The Federal Supplemental Education Grant (FSEOG) is a need-based grant that is also funded by the U.S. government. The awards of this grant are determined based on the calculated need of the student and the availability of funding.
• STUDY Grant – provided in the field of education and requires students to have a cumulative GPA of 3.25, successfully pass the Praxis I exam, ensure that they complete their education, and agree to work as a qualified teacher in a field that is in demand in a public or private elementary or secondary school serving low-income students for four years after completing their degree. Rewards are $4,000 per year, with a maximum of $16,000 .
