Utah Tech University (UT) is a public university in St. George, Utah. It educates specialists in bachelor's, master's, postgraduate education and pre-university courses. Even though the institution is technical, it also provides students with programs in the humanities, arts, education, healthcare, business, and STEAM.

UT was founded in 1911 as St. George's Academy and held that name until 2000, as a public school and two-year college. From 2000 to 2013, the name was changed to the most famous at the present time - Dixie State University, and in 2021 the institution received the title of technical university.

From year to year, the institution is included in national and international rankings, regularly entering the TOP-10 of the best universities teaching arts and sciences. Due to its fame, it annually accepts more than 200 foreign students coming from the EU countries and far abroad. The composition of the students is not only international, but also gender-diverse - UT supports diverse communities and any other club interests.

Phd Program, Doctoral Program

The doctoral program in the specialty "Occupational Therapy" consists of a mandatory 108 credits, which the student must complete over eight semesters.

Occupational therapy is an evidence-based medical profession that helps people adapt to injury, illness, or disability. Students will learn ways to help them function in everyday settings: at home, at work, at school and in the community.  The curriculum addresses the physical, psychological, and cognitive aspects of a person's well-being.

The program is full-time, classes are held at different times during the day.

Accommodation, meals, prices

There are five residential complexes on the educational territory of the university. Students can choose between shared (up to six people) or single rooms, which are paid once a semester.

  • Abby Apartments: apartment style apartments - from $ 1700 to $ 2300,
  • Campus View Suites I: suite-style rooms - from $ 2020 to $ 2900,
  • Campus View Suites II: deluxe rooms - $ 2135-3060,
  • Chancellor Apartments (all-female residence): apartments - $ 1750-2250,
  • University INN: a traditional block dormitory with single rooms - from $ 2000.

The university also provides family housing: Morgan and Tech View residences with large apartments (from $ 850 per semester).

All residences are equipped with showers and toilets: shared or individual, depending on the chosen room. The living quarters are fully furnished: a bed with a mattress, a desk and a chair, a wardrobe and a cabinet for storing things are allocated to each student. Also, many buildings have a fitness center, playrooms, small self-service kitchens, terraces and grill areas, outdoor sports grounds.

Meal plans are offered to all students, especially those living on campus. This service allows students not to waste time preparing meals and cleaning, while still receiving a balanced, healthy and varied diet every day. Plans are available for any request: three meals a day, light snacks, lunches during the week and many other formats (from $ 850 to $ 2250 per semester).

Activities Utah Tech University

Students of the Technical University devote their free time to their interests, attending club meetings, sports and cultural events, sports in teams and individually. The institution has more than 85 thematic communities in areas: from women's associations and clubs of exact sciences to gardening and entrepreneurship - each student is sure to find a group of like-minded people.

More than 180 events are organized annually on campus: sports, creativity, social activities, national and international holidays, charity events and many others. Facilities and equipment at Utah Tech University

The main learning area is located in St. George, Utah; the university also has an additional campus in Hurricane, a 20-minute drive from the main campus.  The infrastructure includes buildings of specialized colleges, which are equipped with specialized laboratories, classrooms for lectures and seminars, computer classes and recreation areas. Students also have access to canteens and cafes, a bookstore, an indoor sports center and outdoor areas, walks and lunch in the fresh air.

Several centers owned by the university are located in Kanab, Hildale, and Pagiche, Utah. Such a variety of educational platforms allows students to gain a diverse experience: from theory to internships.

Admission dates and extra charges

Utah Tech University is open year-round: from September to August. For each program, a certain period of study is established, including several semesters and sessions, vacations and holidays on international, national holidays. Classes are held on weekdays in the first half, the second is reserved for excursions, participation in events and club activities. Extracurricular activities are also organized on weekends.

Approximate list of additional costs:

The admission procedure includes several stages:

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Application deadlines: November 1 and July 1. Foreign applicants must provide:

  • Personal documents: passport, medical insurance,
  • Proof of financial security and support in the amount of at least $ 13,000 ,
  • Academic indicators: a certificate of graduation - for bachelors, a bachelor's degree - for future masters, and for incoming doctoral students - a master's degree in a similar specialty. In addition to these, evaluation transcripts are needed,
  • Certificate of English proficiency: TOEFL (from 68), IELTS (from 6.0), Duolingo (from 95) or equivalent.

For students entering programs above the bachelor's level, you will need letters of recommendation from supervisors or employers, as well as work experience in the chosen field.
