In the course, the children will study the visual programming language Scratch, which was developed by a group of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It is great for getting to know programming, because in this case, learning will be simple and fun. Game creation

  • Age: 8-12 years old
  • Dates: June 28-July 4, July 5-11
  • Duration: 1 week /

Such a summer course will allow students to take their first steps into the exciting world of programming with the goal of creating games. A training program on creating games will introduce students from 8 to 12 years old to the world of computer coding for games and provide an opportunity to gain practical skills and develop useful skills for future educational endeavors.

To create two-dimensional games on cross-platform students will use Construct 2 or Construct 3: the process starts with the design, then the layout is set up and the logic, movements and conditions for winning are added. Participants of the course will be able to do all this already in the first days of training, without having prior experience in creating games.

The duration of training here is only a week, so for those who would like to have long-term experience in studying the field of programming, the course can be combined with the Coding program with Scratch, which in total will give two weeks of programming in the summer school.

Topics covered in the course:

  • Introduction to Construct 3, sprites, graphics and gameplay
  • Actions and events in games
  • Game design and planning: movement, animation, sound effects and voice acting
  • Game debugging and problem solving
  • Adding level, special effects and polishing the game
  • In the final, students create their own simple game.
