The University of New Brunswick (UNB) is the oldest university in Canada, one of the oldest universities in North America. For all the years of its existence - more than 230 years - the university has experienced many difficulties, gradually developed, released several dozen iconic personalities who changed the fate of the country in their years of life.

Accommodation, meals, prices

On the campus in the city of Fredericton, 13 residential buildings have been built, two of them allow men and women to live separately.

11 dormitories are equipped with single, double rooms with kitchens, showers, toilets on each floor. Superior rooms with private bathrooms for students with disabilities are also prepared. The buildings have recreation areas with TV, board games, laundry rooms.

In two buildings of luxury residences in St. John, it is possible to stay alone or with a neighbor. Multi-bedroom rooms are available on request.

Annual cost of living:

  • Single room without bath/shower – 8212-9254$
  • Single Suite type – 8825$
  • Double/triple apartments – 6365-7860$.

Meal plans are a prerequisite for accommodation. Their annual price ranges from 2661 to 4848 $ depending on the number of dishes.

Activities University of New Brunswick

More than 125 clubs, associations of various directions are open for students. Students have access to any university equipment, fitness classes, additional classes.

Facilities and equipment at University of New Brunswick

UNB is located in two cities:

  • Fredericton – Main Campus
  • St. John's is a smaller campus that is home to a medical school.

The institution is equipped with 14 scientific departments, more than 60 research centers. Thanks to the UNB, about 75% of all university research in the province is carried out.

The Fredericton campus is located on a hilly area overlooking the River St. John. Some buildings are recognized as a national historical landmark of the country: the building of the Faculty of Arts, the observatory. The UNB shares the buildings for education with the University of St. Joseph. Thomas (STU). On campus there is a war memorial hall opened in honor of the dead students during the First World War. The city of Fredericton bears the nickname "Corner of poets", as throughout the history of its existence, students, professors, graduates devoted many poems to it. By this nickname, a monument with the same name is open on campus.

Campus St. John is located in Tucker Park near the city's business district. On the territory there is a regional hospital, many laboratories of medical profile. A distinctive feature of this campus is that it is suburban - students live outside the territory of study.

On the territories of the UNB there are canteens, cafeterias, where you can find dishes of various cuisines, including vegetarian food.

The university has branches – small satellite areas of medical profile in Moncton, Betherst, two offices in the Caribbean, as well as in Beijing.

Admission dates and extra charges

Academic year:

An application for admission can be submitted when registering on the official unb website.

Minimum requirements for admission to the bachelor's degree:

Future masters should be provided with:

  • Results of the language test IELTS from 6.5 points / TOEFL from 85 points / Cambridge exam with a minimum amount of 176 points (level C1-C2)

Scholarships University of New Brunswick

According to statistics, every second student receives a scholarship. Participants of national teams receive financial support from the Union of Students. The scholarship fund annually pays awards in the amount of more than $ 5 million.
