  • Includes two blocks of classes: sports management (which is hidden behind marketing in the field of sports in the US), sports and society;
  • The main goal is to create in teenagers an understanding of the reasons for the importance of sports for the whole American society.
  • Marketing and influence on consumer behavior, food safety in the sports industry, the relationship of sports to political and racial ideologies;
  • Historical, moral and ethical aspects of sports are studied: use of narcotic substances, cruelty, violence and abus in sports, women's sports, recruiting athletes;
  • Classes combine lecture and discourse format, as well as video presentations and small group work.
  • Instructors from the Michigan School of Kinesiologists also work with teens.

Accommodation, meals, prices

All students at the University of Michigan Summer program live on the campus of the University of Michigan at the Mosher-Jordan Hall residence. For them comfortable double rooms with a shared bathroom, equipped with air conditioning are provided. On the hostel territory, everyone has free access to the Internet via WiFi and the ability to use the services of a paid laundry. To better get acquainted with each other and have fun, students can unlimitedly visit the recreation room and the game room. There is a mentor around the clock at Mosher-Jordan Hall who is ready to answer all the questions from teenagers at any time.

The program includes full hot meals:

  • From Monday to Friday, students are provided with 3 meals;
  • On Saturday and Sunday there are 2 meals.

Food is prepared in the University’s own modern canteen, the portions for each student are not limited in size. In addition to the usual, vegetarian and gluten-free meals are also available.

Activities University of Michigan Summer academic camp

The University of Michigan Summer program organizers guarantee the complete safety of teenagers during their stay at the university. For this purpose, those attending classes are noted daily, and short courtesy visits are made to the rooms where students live. All high school students are allowed to walk independently off campus - around the city of Ann Arbor - but only by joining small groups.

In case of feeling unwell, the mentor necessarily accompanies the students to the doctor's office, and then informs the parents of the student about each medical visit.

The summer camp program includes versatile activities:

The cost of the summer program at the University of Michigan Summer does not include all the expenses that education entails. Additionally, you need to take into account the payment of the following expenses:

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Becoming a member of the University of Michigan Summer program can be adolescents aged 14 to 18 years old who have completed:

  • 9th grade;
  • 10th grade;
  • 11th grade;
  • First year of high school.

Mandatory requirement for students - this is the arrival and departure strictly in the days of the beginning and end of educational sessions. The only deviations that are allowed are arrival one day later and departure one day earlier. It is impossible for University of Michigan Summer students to stay on other days on campus, as there are simply no free places for senior students to live in the residence.
