TEDI-London – The Engineering & Design Institute London is a higher education provider dedicated to teaching engineering. TEDI-London – The Engineering & Design Institute London was founded by Arizona State University (ASU), King’s College London, and the University of New South Wales Sydney (UNSW Sydney). Together, as part of The PLuS Alliance, created an educational institution wholly focused on preparing engineers to help tackle both the current and future challenges we face globally.

The degree awarded at TEDI-London – The Engineering & Design Institute London is called Global Design Engineering and combines a broad range of disciplines, including mechanics, electronics, product design, environmental engineering, and civil engineering. The curriculum is carefully designed with support from industry experts and reflects the needs of future employers. Students learn through projects and are encouraged to share their knowledge and experience with their peers, which helps them develop key workplace skills like teamworking, communication, and project management. Theory is taught through a blend of online modules and workshops with academics, before being applied practically within each project. Each student is assigned a personal tutor who supports and guides them towards academic success.

As well as arranging regular meetings, personal tutors are available on campus or online to provide additional support. TEDI-London also has strong links with professional bodies such as The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and The Institution of Engineering Designers (IED).

  • Duration: 1 year.

The Certificate of Higher Education (Cert HE) essentially duplicates the first year of undergraduate study. The course combines many engineering disciplines: product design, IT, civil engineering, ecology, mechanics and much more. A lot of attention is paid to project work – smart cities, sustainable development, user-oriented production.

This course is perfect if the student is already interested in engineering and wants to gain basic knowledge and skills, and decide on a specific direction a little later. In just a year, you will be able to significantly deepen your engineering training to start a working career - or enroll in a bachelor's course and get a degree in the future.

Graduates receive a Level 4 qualification.

An engineering degree that combines several areas and disciplines, due to its interdisciplinarity, trains qualified, versatile engineers who are ready to work in the modern labor market.

Integrated Master of Engineering MEng (Hons)

  • Duration of study: 4 years (8 years on Part Time) for the general course (with the transition from the bachelor's degree), the course itself is 1 year.

An expanded program for already "experienced students", which allows them to deepen their knowledge and skills, focus more closely on the chosen areas and specialties, and strengthen their positions in the international labor market.

The Bachelor of Engineering program is taken as a basis and supplemented by:

  • Design course (consumer-oriented),
  • Formation of a portfolio: professional, personal, reflecting leadership qualities,
  • An advanced Master-level project.

TEDI-London does not have its own accommodation, but the Student Hub team can help incoming students to find a suitable place among partner organisations, including city residences for students.

What options are most often offered to students:

  • CRM Students: Great Court residence in Zone 2, a 17-minute drive from the school, close to the Bermondsey metro station. A spacious student lounge, its own cinema and game rooms, a gym and classes for self-study. Rooms are dormitories (with a shared kitchen and living room) and private studios.
  • Landale House on the Surrey waterfront offers affordable rooms (bathrooms shared or private), free membership to the local gym.
  • Scape Canada Water - close to the campus there is a new residence with spacious rooms (private amenities), a round-the-clock gym and even a mini-golf course, WiFi.
  • Moonraker Point (Zone 1, approximately 20 minutes from campus), Southwark and Borough subway, near Borough Market. A cozy hotel with stunning shared living rooms, beautiful views of London. Accepts students 17+ years old.
  • Stratford One: a large and spacious hotel (1001 rooms) 35 minutes from the campus (near Stratford Station and a large Westfield shopping center). Cozy rooms are a great success and are disassembled very quickly! It offers residents an impressive penthouse for relaxation, rooftop terraces, game rooms and classrooms for self-study. Accepts students 17+ years old.
  • Spring Mews (Zone 1, approximately 40 minutes drive, near Vauxhall station): impressive common facilities (gym, swimming pool, cinema room, dining room). Accepts students 17+ years old, but places run out very quickly.
  • Manna Ash House (Zone 1, about 20 minutes drive from campus, near Southwark and Borough stations) is a beautiful view of the city, cozy rooms, an impressive garden for general relaxation. Accepts students 17+ years old.
  • AA4S is a charity that organises student housing in East London. About 370 rooms at a very affordable price: the options are different (in terms of comfort and area), so you can find the best option for you personally!
  • Londonist DMC is a popular agency for finding long-term or short-term housing: in King's Cross, Spitalfields, Lewisham, Greenwich, Stratford and other areas. The range is very wide - from common rooms to apartments, always round-the-clock security service and well-established public services.

TEDI-London – The Engineering & Design Institute London students are affiliate members of KCLSU, the Student Union of King's College London. This gives them access to a huge student community and more than 300 clubs and societies, as well as a huge library, educational and entertainment spaces throughout London, and bars and cafes.

At TEDI-London's campus itself, there are a range of interesting clubs to join, such as the MakeDoMend Engineering Club and the Robotics Club. Students can also choose from a range of exciting events to attend, or even run events of their own. This includes charity fundraising initiatives, student parties, games and sports matches, film screenings, seasonal holidays and much more.

The TEDI-London – The Engineering & Design Institute London campus is located in Canada Water, London. Its local area in south-east London offers a comfortable place to live and study.

The campus itself combines sustainable development and unique modular design and was built specifically to teach engineering. Its ‘makerspaces’ contain all the facilities needed to learn and apply key engineering principles, from large metal and woodworking machines to hand tools and 3D printers. The campus also features comfortable study spaces, a rooftop terrace, a cafeteria, and a double-height event space that can be used for student project presentations.

  2. Take an online interview: talk about your education and experience, existing skills, and – most importantly – your motivation for an engineering career.
  3. Take the Math Refresher course if required – the admissions team will tell you if this is required.
  4. Successful applicants receive an offer to study at TEDI-London from the admissions team.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Universal requirements submitted by TEDI to its applicants (it is enough to fulfill one of the points):

  • A-level: at least three B points,
  • IB: from 31 points; in subjects that were studied at an advanced level (High Level, HL), grades 5/5/4,
  • European Baccalaureate - from 70% of successful completion,
  • High School Diploma with SAT or ACT scores/Advanced Placement (AP) diploma program.

The level of English must be at least 6.5 on the IELTS scale (from 6.0 in each section).

Applicants from Russia can apply with a certificate of complete secondary education (11 classes), passing the ACT or SAT exams (or having an AP diploma) and confirming their knowledge of mathematics (separate testing).
