Students of the one-year program will learn to create new realities in films, TV, games, adding life to them - sounds, effects and music. The program of the course includes all the necessary aspects from the very beginning to the tricks of true mastery:

  • basic concepts of sound design
  • key technical skills and work with basic software tools: Foley, Dolby 5.1 surround mixing studios, Avid ICON two-tier system and Avid Pro Tools, Kontakt, Max / MSP, WWISE, FMOD, Unity, KYMA
  • competent and clean record
  • installation and information skills
  • game sound - basic techniques, principles, patterns
  • mixing
  • final project (second half of the year) - preparation of a professional demo that will be included in the personal portfolio.

The course is supervised by an experienced, well-known sound producer and specialist in the field of Shane Rees, and the classes take place at the state-of-the-art equipment of the innovative VFS campus. All the latest tools, technology, software - everything will be in your hands!

Information for the entrants:

  • Duration: 1 year. Weekly - 30 hours of work with the teacher + 30 hours of individual lessons
  • Beginning of studies: February, June, October (specific dates you can check with your manager)
  • 3 or more large projects each year
  • 12 and more large-scale events annually
  • For graduates, a prestigious diploma, replenishment of a personal portfolio (including a professional demo) and access to a unique VFS vacancy fair, where the best offers from international companies are collected, registration in a special register of graduates, access to a unique library of VFS sounds.

Applicants are advised to prepare a motivation letter (up to 500 words): why are you so passionate about sound? Why are you ready and able to succeed in this direction, how do you plan to develop during and after your studies at Vancouver Film School?
