Balmoral Hall School is located in the center of Winnipeg (in the province of Manitoba) on the bank of the Assiniboin river, and occupies a vast territory of 5 hectares (approximately 12 acres). Winnipeg is one of the most developed cultural communities in Canada. The year of foundation of the Balmoral Hall School can be called 1901 - it was founded as the Havergal College, then it was called Rupert's Land College (1917), so as not to be confused with the names of the same school in Toronto. In 1950, the school merged with the Riverbend School, also a women's boarding house, and the association was named Balmoral, which remains to this day. Balmoral is one of the largest castles of the British royal family, and both schools have introduced their best features into the curriculum. Balmoral Hall School also supports the International Baccalaureate program, works as a testing center for SAT and ACT, offering preparatory courses on the methodology of successful studies. Preparation for entering the university begins already in the 8th grade - this helps graduates without any problems to enter the selected universities and receive a large number of proposals.

The foundation of education is the English language: introduction, perception of language, composition, English literature, public speaking and oratorical art, debate. Additionally, a supporting course for foreign students - ESL is taught. You can study other foreign languages: for example, Chinese, French, Spanish at your own discretion.

An important role is played by education in the field of art and culture: it can be drama and theater, performing or visual skill.

  • 1) Music

Choral singing is taught as a separate course, for which you can get a full educational credit: primary technique, music, music theory and musical notation, staging. Classical and ancient music, folk art and songs, modern pop standards, musical theater and jazz are considered.

  • 2) Drama and theater

It is directed to the active development of independent, individual creativity, serves as an excellent way of self-expression, teaches to negotiate and to communicate in various situations. You can also learn how to prepare and to demonstrate presentations, to improve the skill of productive thinking.

  • 3) Performing skills

Includes choreography, vocals and drama, enriches subject areas and improves knowledge and skills in the field of theatrical productions. There is a huge number of different profile exercises (for example, improvisation, performances and scenes), participation in vocal groups of different scale, solo singing. In the choreography, the main emphasis is on jazz technique, the remaining styles are dealt with optional.

  • 4) Fine art

It is taught in detail from the 6th grade until the very end of the school. A comprehensive course gives an idea of ​​art, technology, helps developing common skills and revealing personal potential.
