Academic Program 9-12 Years

  • Age — from 14 to 18 years old,
  • The duration of the study is four years.

The four-year middle and high school curriculum offers students the development of academic skills to succeed in college and university, while instilling intellectual curiosity and broadening their worldview.

The curriculum for each of the four phases is different. In the 9th grade, students will master the following disciplines:

  • Algebra
  • Biology
  • Fundamentals of Computer Science,
  • English language
  • Fine Arts,
  • Modern and Classical Languages,
  • Geography
  • Health
  • Theology.

In Grade 10, the annual schedule includes:

  • English language
  • Chemistry
  • Geometry
  • Modern and Classical Languages,
  • Theology
  • World History,
  • Two electives to choose from.

The penultimate year of study will allow students to choose three electives to choose from, related to their interests and further educational goals. Without fail, they will study algebra or statistics, physics, American history, English language and literature, and theology. Many items are available at Standard or AP level.

The final year of the program consists of compulsory English language study, the creation of a theology and services to the elderly project, and five electives to choose from. In Grade 12, students have ample time to prepare for college, develop their academic interests, and practice the necessary skills.

Students need a minimum of 24 credit (credit) units to complete the program, successfully pass exams and graduate.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The school does not have residential buildings. Exchange students who come to SLUH are accommodated in the homes of their host families and have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the national culture and customs, taste the home cuisine of the locals and are regularly provided with food, assistance and care.

The sports component of the extracurricular life of students is a variety of areas for group and individual training. Sports are divided into seasons, as the infrastructure of the campus allows you to professionally practice some of them on professional outdoor and indoor venues. For example, in the winter, students can participate in basketball, hockey, tennis, shooting, and wrestling training, and in the fall, take up football, swimming, and diving. Summer time gives students the opportunity to try their hand at such areas as baseball, golf, lacrosse, rugby, tennis, volleyball, frisbee, water polo and others. SLUH has four teams that compete in the Missouri School Esports Federation during the school year.

Each day, silence fills the campus for two minutes: a special moment dedicated to the Exam of Conscience, a self-examination inspired by St. Ignatius. Then, each day during the closing prayer, voices echo in the hallways and classrooms saying together, "To the glory of God." In this way, the faith, service and purity of mind of the students are maintained, but without religious obtrusiveness: SLUH pupils realize their potential by participating in charity events, community service and helping local people.
