High School Preparation Program

The High School Preparation Course is carefully designed to help international students improve their English language skills and study skills needed to work effectively alongside American students.

The program is flexible, so students can join at different times throughout the year and study for as long as they need, depending on their level of proficiency.

The weekly academic load is 25 hours of lessons per week, including 10 hours of tutoring. The curriculum consists of several components: English, development of educational and organizational skills, introduction to academic subjects.

English for Academic Learning is lessons in school disciplines such as math and science. On them, students will be able to improve their vocabulary, develop a suitable strategy for completing tasks, practice writing reports and working on projects.

Classes aimed at developing learning and organizational skills include setting goals that the student achieves over time. Students will gain the following skills:

  • Set personal goals to manage the time and deadlines of assigned projects,
  • Practice note-taking in academic classes,
  • Identify the main ideas and supporting details in the articles,
  • Conduct effective group practice of work,
  • Consider the various strategies used for successful learning in an English-speaking environment,
  • Practice peer review of academic work,
  • Develop technological skills.

The Introduction to Academic Subject Areas component will help students learn how to audit and practice listening, note-taking, and engaging in discussions and debates on subject topics.
