Performers College Essex is one of the two campuses of the College of Performing Arts, located in Essex. The institution is managed by one of the prestigious and leading institutes of acting and theatrical skills – BIMM University.

Trinity 6 Level Professional Diploma

  • The training period is 3 years.

The three-year Trinity 6 Level course leads to a diploma as a professional dancer or musical theatre actor. The programme is confirmed by Trinity College London, established as part of the RQS qualification and is equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. It differs from the bachelor's degree in that it gives additional and wider opportunities for further employment.

The curriculum includes many hours under teacher supervision so that students can maximize their potential and achieve success. Students will receive:

  • Creative, expressive and technical skills,
  • Professional employability skills and support at every stage,
  • Skills to enhance both professional and personal progress.

The Essex campus offers a Performing Arts Master's programme to develop performing arts skills in entrepreneurship, choreography, directing, and song performance.

Thanks to numerous hours of practice, students achieve excellent results, improving their knowledge and gaining experience from professional teachers. The curriculum also includes experimental seminars and self-study based on analysis and research – in this way, students will be able to independently create their career path and understand their strengths.

Summer School

For school students from 12 to 18 years old, a summer program is organized aimed at developing various skills:

  • Classical ballet,
  • Jazz
  • Vocals and choral singing,
  • Acting
  • Musical Theatre,
  • Contemporary art,
  • Tap dancing and different types of dances.

For five days, students will be immersed in the atmosphere of performing arts, training under the guidance of Performers College Essex teachers and visiting specialists.

Classes are held from July 24 in the morning. After them, students do not have to go home, because a variety of events are organized on campus: concerts, performances, theme parties, master classes.

The price of the program includes a daily light lunch, all evening activities and a T-shirt with an emblem left as a memento of the course.

Spring program East Event

In April, the college holds an introductory three-day event for its possible future students - schoolchildren aged 11 years and older. They will be able to get acquainted with the students currently enrolled in the institution, their teachers, attend master classes, lectures and trainings in the studios.

The course price includes a T-shirt with the symbols of the program.

Performance Elite for Young Students

  • Age - from 12 years.

This programme is designed for selected school pupils aged 12 and over. Classes are held on Sundays once a month - from 10:00 to 16:00 intensive lessons are organized in the field of dance, acting, vocals and musical theater.

Thanks to professional and experienced teachers, students will gain full confidence in themselves and their creative skills, will be able to reveal their talent and get acquainted with many artists: current students, teachers, invited speakers, college partners. There are no seminars on the same topic in the curriculum - each lesson reveals a new area and makes it possible to study it effectively and in a short time.

There are no accommodation facilities on the Essex campus, but staff will help students find suitable accommodation in the areas closest to campuses. Available options:

Thanks to the convenient location of the study area, college students have the opportunity to explore the sights and natural beauties of both Essex and London. In these cities there are the best theaters and concert venues in the UK, taking part in productions and performances of even students. Dance and music events are regularly held on the streets, in restaurants and cafes, and by visiting studios and art laboratories, you can get to a thematic master class or lecture from leading experts in different fields.

Admission dates and extra charges

There are several important dates in the academic year:

  • Christmas holidays: December 19-January 6,
  • Spring semester: January 30-May 22,
  • Easter holidays: April 3-14.

The terms of study in the Trinity diploma program differ:

  • Fall Semester: September 12-December 12,
  • Winter break: 19 December-6 January,
  • Spring semester: January 9-March 27,
  • Spring break: April 3-14,
  • Summer semester: April 17-May 15.

Students of advanced programs study on the same dates, but graduate a little later - on June 26.

Additional expenses include off-campus rentals and meals, public transportation, activities, and personal expenses. Also, for some courses, a non-refundable deposit of no more than £ 100 will be required.

Enrolment process

The admission process for applicants to short-term courses and undergraduate programs is identical:

  • Filling out the application and providing the necessary documents,
  • Audition Day - entrance tests showing the skills of theatrical art, singing, acting, dance.

Future masters instead of auditions will have to undergo an individual interview.

Auditions are held from November to March: participants present a learned dialogue from literature or film, a theatrical production, a song or other creativity showing their best skills in art.

At each stage of admission, the admission committee accompanies the future student, providing answers to all emerging questions.

Perspectives

Through a broad partner network that includes both individuals and leading theatre and film agencies, Students at Performers College Essex have the opportunity to work as interns on major projects until graduation. Within a few months after receiving a diploma, graduates find their first job in their specialty or proceed to a further stage of education, improving their qualifications.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Foreign applicants wishing to enroll in bachelor's and master's programs must provide:

  • Personal documents: passport, health insurance, visa or residence permit, bank account with local currency,
  • High school diploma with grade transcript, suitable bachelor's degree or work experience,
  • Individual achievements if available.

Knowledge of English will be important, so you should pass it in advance. IELTS (from 6.0-6.5), TOEFL (from 72-74), PTE Academic (from 50-52) and others will do. The main factor affecting admission will be skills and abilities in the performing arts, so all applicants pass entrance tests.

Short-term courses and summer school programs will not require special skills other than knowledge of English.

Scholarships Performers College Essex

Dance and Drama Awards (DaDa) scholarships are awarded to students of Master's programs who are active in learning and have the greatest potential in their future profession. The recipients of the awards are mainly Students of Trinity College – pupils born in the UK and EU countries.

International students automatically receive £2,000 each academic year, which is deducted from the tuition fee.
