Northwest A&F University (NWAFU) is a key national university located in the homeland of agricultural civilization and the national demonstration zone of agricultural innovation technologies. The predecessor of the university was the College of Forestry and Agriculture - the first higher educational institution in the North-West, opened in 1934.

Northwest A&F University attaches great importance to undergraduate and is actively involved in the creation of the "new agricultural sciences." 25 specialties have been selected as national first-class undergraduate specialties.

The university has 27 colleges (faculties, institutes) and postgraduate studies, in total:

Accommodation options for NWAFU students:

• Lin Yuan Hotel is located on the University's South Campus. The rooms are equipped with seasonal heating systems: air conditioners in summer, heat batteries in winter. This hotel is considered the most budget option for living.
• Yiyuan Hotel is located on the North Campus. The hotel has 4 villas, more than 50 rooms of different classes: from standard to luxury. The buildings are equipped with conference rooms, restaurants, recreation areas.
• Waizhu Apartments – 7,000 sqm of residential space is located on the southwest corner of the South Campus. It is equipped with 70 rooms, restaurant, business center.

Free Wi-Fi is available on all residential campuses.

Chefs from 11 cafeterias on 2 main campuses prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner for students daily during the school year. Among the food establishments are 2 Muslim - they are specially built to meet the needs of the Muslim group of students. Food safety in all cafeterias is strictly controlled.

The Campus Card is a campus student ID card that acts as a debit card to facilitate payment for meals in all cafeterias (but cash is also accepted).

Events on campus – exhibitions, concerts, conferences – are usually held at the Xiu-Shan Student Center, named after the entrepreneur who sponsored the university.

The urban area of the university is about 3.94 sq. km., covering two main campuses: North and South. The Institute of Water and Soil Conservation, the College of Food Science and Engineering, the College of Water Resources and Architectural Engineering have their own independent campuses for administrative affairs and research.

The South Campus houses study and living space for senior students from most colleges. In the South Campus, the House of Agricultural Sciences, the House of Social Sciences, new apartments for students are being built.

The north campus is mainly for study, some graduate students move here for research.

NWAFU provides small buses to transport students and staff between the South and North campuses on a daily schedule.
