Northeastern University Boston
Description of Northeastern University Boston
A private Northeastern University was founded in 1898. Today it is a global research center with worldwide fame and an innovative approach to education. The structure of the university includes 9 colleges and schools: it offers a variety of undergraduate, magistracy, doctoral programs, as well as graduate programs in the campuses of Toronto, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Charlotte and North Carolina.
The total number of students in Northeastern University's bachelor programs is 13,967 (approximately equal to boys and girls) and the main campus is over 73 acres. In the national ranking of the top universities in USA, it ranks 39, among the most modern and innovative educational institutions - an honourable 7th place. The university regularly receives large research grants - it is entrusted by the National Science Foundation, the National Institute of Health, the Departments of Internal Security, Energy and Defense.
The big plus is the opportunity to gain invaluable hands - on experience even during studying, numerous internships and practices. About 90% of students still have time to work in the largest companies around the world (including such giants as MTV and GEICO). There is an opportunity to independently determine the duration of study at a bachelor's degree - 4 or 5 years (differ in the range of possible practices and internships). Students can also participate in grant programs, conducting joint research with the best specialists and professors of their field. Among the most popular and sought after specialties in the university are the following:
- Business
- Management
- Engineering
- Marketing
- Medical specialties (medical workers)
- Biological sciences
- Medical and biological sciences.
Among the well-known Northeastern University graduates are the talk show star Wendy Williams, cosmonaut Albert Sacco, and Sean Fanning, the founder of the famous Napster service. The university belongs to secular educational institutions: on the campus, no religion is accepted as the main one, that's why students of any confession and religion can study here.
What advice do you have for potential applicants before applying to US universities?
Choose a university that really suits you - do not try to "adjust" yourself to a prestigious or ranked university. If you are not sure of your capabilities, do not dwell on the first top 10: believe me, many opportunities of less prestigious universities will be able to give you what you need to develop and become a specialist.
