  • High School Program
  • Duration of study: 1 academic year, from September to May

Midleton College was founded in 1696: today the mixed form of education is accepted here (education can be received by both girls and boys), a boarding school and a full-time form of study are offered. This is a small, chamber and cozy educational institution, where children feel very comfortable, as if they are part of one educational family. Midleton College is located in the famous Irish city of Cork: its population is almost 120 thousand people - this is the second largest city and the third largest city in the country. In 2005, Cork was named the European Cultural Capital. Also Cork is the center of a huge metropolitan area - its suburbs and neighborhoods reach a population of 300,000 people, which on the scale of Ireland represents a huge figure.

Classes adhere to a certain quota for students: no more than 22 people for the middle classes (Junior Cycle) and no more than 20 people in the senior (Senior Cycle). This enables teachers to more closely monitor the personal needs of students, their progress more thoroughly, to notice difficulties in time and, if necessary, to adjust curricula and plans. All Midleton College students participate in all aspects of school life as far as possible: basic educational courses and research, joint projects, sports and creativity, entertainment and leisure activities, social and charitable work.

The purpose of the High School Program is to enable children of different nationalities and backgrounds to receive a quality education, to teach them to take a different viewpoint and someone else's opinion, to cultivate tolerance and respect for others. Students become more friendly and tolerant, better understand intercultural processes throughout the world and are ready for life in the modern international community. The program is selective: to enroll in the course the child must demonstrate a sufficiently high level of knowledge, independence and perseverance in order to meet the high standards of the school. Lessons are usually held in the morning, from 8:55 to 16:05 (total 9 lessons daily), additional lessons last until 17:30 (breaks are provided). Children are engaged on weekdays (from Monday to Friday), 1 lesson lasts 35-40 minutes.

Behavior of the student is watched by the host family, in whose house he lives during studying, as well as his local curator, school teachers and educators.

Review about Midleton College School Cork

Truly outstanding Boarding school. Both my children attended Midleton College and I believe they reached their full potential here. Both are now studying their first choice course in 3rd level and have the fondest memories of Midleton College. They have made friendships with local and International students that will last a lifetime. Could not recommend this school anymore highly.
