Mercy University is a private university with three campuses near New York City, offering preparatory courses for international students, undergraduate and graduate programs.

Mercy University has been operating since 1950, having existed as a college for most of the time - Mercy received the title of university only in August 2023. A lot of efforts have always been made to ensure that the level of teaching, the composition of academic programs, the variety of extracurricular activities, and the comfort of campuses correspond to modern technologies. Now Mercy University offers not only technological equipment and facilities for face-to-face learning, but also the opportunity to obtain a degree in an online format.

The student body is represented by a wide variety of nationalities - students come to Mercy University from Spain, Sweden, Japan, Great Britain, Norway and other countries. More than 50 bachelor's programs, 14 master's and MBA specializations in cybersecurity, business analytics, public accounting, psychology, and others are available to international students.

Educational process

From the first time to study at Mercy University, each student is assigned a personal mentor who will provide the necessary support, help in adapting and solving issues, will be able to guide the student along the academic path, providing a choice of the most suitable courses for him, track his progress in studies, develop leadership qualities and gradually lead him to achieve his goals.

This program offers high school students additional preparation in the subjects they would like to take in their final school exams. A prerequisite for training is good academic performance. Teaching is carried out by qualified subject teachers who have many years of experience in their professional field.

The student is asked to choose from one to 24 credits (credits). Some of the available subjects to study are:

Business Administration MBA Program

Students at Mercy University have the opportunity to earn an MBA in as little as one year by following a flexible curriculum schedule. Courses can be taken in person at any of the university's three campuses, 100% remotely, or a combination of the two.  Specialization in business administration combines demand in the labor market, modern skills and valuable knowledge that will be useful for work in any field. Students will learn by doing, which will give them the opportunity to create real projects for real clients while still studying.

The curriculum concentrates on nine areas of specialty:

Accommodation, meals, prices

Two of Mercy University's three study areas have residential residences. On the Westchester campus, the following facilities are open:

  • Hudson Hall is a residential building for undergraduates, offering double occupancy in a suite style: two to three bedrooms with a shared bathroom,
  • Founders Hall is a freshman building with double, triple, and quadruple rooms, shared bathrooms, and seating areas.

The Manhattan residency accepts international students. Dorm34 is a building with fully furnished suite-style rooms, shared bathrooms and living rooms, laundry facilities, and other amenities.

When accommodated in any of the residential buildings, students are provided with a meal plan that contains a certain number of meals per week and additional "dollars" - the internal currency of the university, stored on an electronic card and providing a discount on the payment of snacks, drinks and other goods in Mercy University stores.

Activities Mercy University

Thriving on diversity, culture, history, and innovation, New York City exudes an energy that is worth experiencing in person! From rich cuisine to incredible attractions, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx are sure to have something for students.

Mercy University has more than 50 themed clubs and communities on all three campuses, and regularly hosts festive events, sports competitions, musical and theatrical performances, and exhibitions. Clubs are divided into areas of hobbies:

Facilities and equipment at Mercy University

Students can choose to study at one of three campuses located in Manhattan, Westchester, or the Bronx.

The Manhattan campus, located in the heart of the city, serves as home to prep programs. The study area offers easy access to the metro, cultural sites and attractions. The academic building itself offers students high-tech classrooms and laboratories, computer classes and self-study areas, a library and other facilities that make the learning experience diverse and modern.

The Westchester campus sits on the banks of the Hudson River, on 66 acres of scenic grounds. As the home of the Mavericks track and field teams, it's the perfect place to watch a game, hang out with friends. Located just a 40-minute train ride from Manhattan Grand Central Station, Westchester includes the Central Library, newly renovated sports facilities, and:

  • 5000 sq. ft. gymnasium,
  • Five outdoor tennis courts,

Admission dates and extra charges

The academic year at Mercy University consists of three semesters:

  • Autumn: September-December,
  • Spring: January-May,
  • Summer: May-August.

Training days are held from Monday to Friday, rest is provided on weekends, days of national and international holidays, holidays. Depending on the chosen level of education and specialization, the dates of the holidays may vary.

Admission to Mercy University is carried out on a competitive basis - applicants are included in the list, from which the most successful receive an official invitation to study.

Perspectives

To date, the university has graduated about 70,000 specialists who have created careers around the world. At the end of the program, graduates either continue their academic path at the next stage of education, or begin their professional career (usually within three months).

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Applicants coming from other countries must meet the entry criteria of their chosen program. Some of the specializations have specific requirements, such as research work in a professional field or work experience. The following requirements will be common to candidates:

  • Personal documents: passport, health insurance, visa or residence permit,
  • Certificate of Completion of Upper Secondary Education/Bachelor's Degree/Master's Diploma in Related Fields, Assessment Transcripts,
  • Language test results: TOEFL (from 71 for undergraduates, from 80 for postgraduate studies), IELTS (from 6.0-6.5), Duolingo (from 100-105),
  • An individual essay about motivation in learning, future plans and existing achievements,
  • Letters of recommendation from one or more teachers, mentors, supervisors (the letter is mandatory for those who enroll in Master's programs).

Applicants who meet the academic and language requirements will be offered direct admission. If an applicant does not have a sufficient level in education or linguistics, they will be offered to complete a preparatory program and then move on to a full degree (in the second year).

Scholarships Mercy University

The university provides its alumni with financial aid that is based on difficult life situations and is given to those who would not otherwise be able to study at Mercy University, while having excellent academic results.

Students have access to scholarships, grants, loans, and a work-study program that allows them to cover part of the cost of education, living and other expenses. Scholarships are awarded to particularly successful students in the academic, sports, social, creative fields, as well as those who come from abroad on an exchange program.

Federal grants have specific requirements for payment applicants that vary depending on the financial program.
