Description of The University of Manchester

Today, the University of Manchester is one of the most prestigious in the county. It is also one of the famous research centers in England. The history of Manchester University began in 1824 with creating of the Institute of Mechanics. Later it was merged with the Royal University. Today, the University of Manchester is a multi-disciplinary institution. Departments of engineering, law, science, art, medicine, theology, commerce, music, business administration, pedagogy are organized.

Many important discoveries were made within the university in the 20th century. The first personal computer was assembled, as well as atomic studies of international significance were conducted.

The modern university is a large research center focused on development. About 38,500 students study here. 22% of them are foreign students from 100 countries.
