All of them were founded in different years - but their founders assigned an invariably important place to the upbringing of modern, intelligent, educated young ladies in society. The union took place in 1979, when the schools of The Abbey School and St James's School merged;. later they became part of Lawnside, and in 2006, a single Malvern St James School was registered, and Malvern Girls' College and St James's School joined the ranks.

Today every schoolgirl of the Malvern St James School is asked the main question: "Who do you want to be?". Depending on the answer, a personal curriculum is formed for the girl, which includes academic, creative, sports and social pursuits in an invariably comfortable and friendly atmosphere. Participation in all extracurricular activities and circles is actively encouraged by teachers, as well as the manifestation of initiative and independence - all girls have a wide range of hobbies and show a wide variety of talents and abilities. Much attention is also paid to the education of the "sense of the shoulder": the ability to work in a team, together to show resourcefulness, perseverance, look for non-standard ways of solving different problems.

The school has received all the necessary accreditations (national and international) and a huge number of awards, recognition around the world. So, among the latest reports and inspections, Ofsted (Standards Management in Education in the UK) can be noted: this is the only school in their list that received only the highest marks, the "Outstanding" ranking and did not earn any amendments or recommendations for improvement! In addition, the excellent level of the institution of care was noted, the full compliance of the government's program for monitoring and care of children (Every Child Matters), and the most prominent areas of work were the health and safety of students, "Joy and Achievements," "Positive Contribution and Organization Level."

The curriculum of each academic year is a harmoniously balanced set of activities in all areas of personal development: academic (intellectual), physical, moral, spiritual, creative, social and ethical. In girls, studied on specially adjusted, developed programs.

For 2 years students study only 3-5 selected disciplines: the study is conducted at an in-depth, complex, almost university level. Accommodation, meals, prices

There are 5 large residences for girls in the spacious school territory: each has a quiet picturesque garden and its own parking lot, and the road to the academic buildings will not take more than a few minutes. The houses are divided by age of girls:

  • Batsford (junior classes, 3- 8 year old)
  • The Mount and Hatfield (middle classes, 8-11 years of schooling)
  • Greenslade and Poulton (for high school grades 11-12, girls are given a greater level of independence, which helps them to prepare for life at the university level self-service campus.)

Each house is designed for approximately 300 people, on average 100-125 rooms are traditionally given to high school students and provide for single accommodation. In general, there are cozy living rooms for rest, quiet classrooms for independent work and homework, reading.

Much attention is paid to adaptation of new students, especially those who came from abroad - ISC (Independent School Inspection) further noted this fact at the last check. They are given special attention and support from the staff, which they are prompted with useful tips on the organization of both the daily routine and the academic schedule.

Close attention is paid to the medical examination of girls: the qualified staff at the school are on duty around the clock, and for the sick students there are wards of inpatient treatment.

Many are surprised by the fact that girls from 4 to 18 years spend practically all of the time together - but this is the most vivid confirmation of the school's philosophy as the second house, where there are both younger and older sisters. Joint living and classes contribute to the education of a sense of unity, the ability to work in a team, involvement in a common cause - and at the same time the manifestation of individuality, sense of tact, personal talents and leadership qualities. All students are divided into groups - the so-called ships - which constantly compete in creative and intellectual assemblies, parties and art festivals. The fact that the ships include girls of different ages helps everyone: the older ones take care of the younger ones, and the young girls take the example from the "sisters" of the older age.

The school adopted uniform, compulsory up to 16 years: it's dark blue jackets and Scottish skirts. High school students on the Sixth Form can dress themselves at their discretion - they are only allowed to wear jeans, open shoes and bright make-up or manicure.

Nutrition in the school is balanced, composed by a team of professional chefs: there is always a rich choice of first and second courses on the tables, a large salad bar and fresh fruit, there are vegetarian and Muslim options. In a large school cafeteria, both teachers and students and the rest of the staff at the same time eat, which additionally contributes to strengthening the sense of family.

Review about Malvern St James School

Ines
(15.05.2020)
As an old girl, I really would not recommend going to this school. They talk so much about how women should lift other women up but meanwhile their staff and housemistresses gossips about students openly. Boarding school housemistresses had also shown favouritism while other staff like teachers were subtly racist. definitely mot a good experience and was not worth it at all

We regret that your experience at this school was like this. Although the behavior of each tutor has no influence on the quality of education. Anyway, it was necessary to tell your curator or manager about this problem. Such moments are decided in conversations with the director, with which of course we can help.
