Loughborough Grammar School is one of the oldest private male guesthouses in Britain. It was founded back in 1495 by the priest of the parish church All Saints Parish Church, and funds were provided by the wealthy merchant Thomas Burton. The school is located in Leicestershire, in the developed and prosperous city of Loughborough, the local educational and university center (since 1850 the school occupies a more southern part of the city). The educational institution has a spacious, well-groomed territory with a large number of green lawns and gardens, cozy residences and a modern educational building, built in the Gothic style of Queen Victoria, developed infrastructure for sports and creativity. You can get to London in about 2 hours.

There are young men with academic indicators which are significantly higher than the average level. Active and fruitful academic environment is created due to a harmonious combination of educational and extra-curricular activities, useful electives, where students can reveal their abilities and talents. The level of achievement of young men are constantly monitored - it helps to track the most difficult and problematic moments, to correct the program. Also, a system of incentives, prizes and awards is perfectly established - competitions and contests are regularly held, and the most distinguished students receive gifts, cups and certificates. This helps to develop team spirit, a healthy competitive atmosphere and a sense of rivalry, leadership qualities, the ability to win and lose, to take responsibility. Studying is conducted in accordance with the national British educational standard (National Curriculum).

Accommodation, meals, prices

Students live in comfortable, cozy residences according to the age principle: children 10-15 years old are occupied by Denton House, high school students (16-18 years old) - School House. Both hostels are located in the central part of the campus, well equipped with everything you need: bedrooms, kitchens, rooms for general recreation, there is internet access. Pupils of grades 6-11 occupy rooms for several people, high school students - double rooms, and students of the 13th class can apply for a personal, single bedroom on request.

Interesting and various leisure activities are constantly organized on weekends: it can be a trip to the cinema or theater, a visit to the swimming pool or paintball grounds, classes at the fitness center and etc.

A lot of attention in the studying process is a great way to intellectually, spiritually and physically develop students. There is a large number of sports sections, clubs and circles on interests:

Facilities and equipment at Loughborough Grammar School for Boys

The school is well equipped for sporting and outdoor activities: on campus there is a cricket pitch, a spacious heated pool (length of 25 meters), a hockey field (on grass, an artificial lawn), squash and tennis courts, badminton courts, modern multifunctional fitness center. Just 10 minutes walk from the campus there are extensive sports fields Quorn Playing Fields - here, most often, there are collective, group studying, competitions and games.

Young men constantly participate in regional and national competitions, win and take prizes: for example, more recently cricket and tennis teams participated in the final of the national championship!

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

You can file documents at 10-11,13 and 16 years. There is a thorough selection at the school, and it may be quite difficult for a foreign student to get here. Entrance examinations are held from January to March. General requirements are:

  • Report on progress in recent years
  • Passing of entrance examinations
  • Pass a face-to-face interview.

Applicants from 6th to 11th grade take English, math and pass a non-verbal Reasoning Test. If you qualify for a place in the A-level program, you will need to pass an entrance exam in the 4 areas that you plan to study at the advanced level of the AS (Advanced Subsidiary level), and also confirm the level of knowledge of the English language (IELTS not less than 6.0).
