The Leeds International Study Center is an educational center that specializes in undergraduate programs for the Leeds Beckett University, also known as the City University Leeds. Educational programs include 2-term International Foundation Year courses (in two directions) and 1 three-time language programs (English Language Preparation).

Leeds Beckett University, based on which the center operates, is one of the best universities in Britain and the world, regularly occupying high places in various rankings. The university has a pronounced research bias.

International Foundation Year

Direction: Business law and social studies

  • Duration of studying: 2 terms
  • Beginning of classes: September, January.

The program of the course provides preparation for undergraduate studies during 2 terms - from September to June or from January to August. It includes intensive English classes, adaptation to the educational system and academic subjects. Students have an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the rules and structure of the university.

The bias in the curriculum is made on those subjects that the student chooses for the subsequent admission to the bachelor's degree. Progress is monitored through the continuous delivery of coursework, presentations, essays, case studies and examinations. The center has a mentoring system.

After the successful completion of this program, the student can be enrolled in one of the 22 specialties in undergraduate programs at the University of Leeds Beckett.

English Language Preparation

  • Course duration: 1 term
  • Beginning of classes: September, June (end of May).

The program is provided for those whose level of language proficiency does not meet the requirements for admission to the programs of preparation for undergraduate studies. The course takes 1 trimester and takes place before the start of the International Foundation Year programs. Intensive classes are conducted by leading specialists of the university. At the end of the term, the student is enrolled in the International Foundation Year programs.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

1) Age of students at the time of admission from 17 years old

2) Level of English:

  • For International Foundation Year programs is required IELTS level from 4.5 (necessarily 4.5 in the written part)
  • For the English Language Preparation program IELTS level from 4.0 (required 4.0 in the written part)

3) High School Graduated:

  • Average score of the certificate from 3.5 and above (according to the Russian Certificate)
  • Studying is only available for international students (not Britain and not Hebrew Union).

Recommendations on when to apply

- we recommend to apply 6-9 months before the start of the course (some camps and schools offer discounts for early booking or for lengthy study programs)
- there are some very popular and high demand children's camps, where the applications need to be submitted 1 year in advance (in particular Switzerland , Great Britain , USA , Canada , Austria)
- we recommend to apply one year before the start of the training program,
- some schools have a specific time frame (September-November - please specify an individual school)
- some schools require tests in several stages (UKISET, internal tests of the school: English, mathematics, logics, subjects, interview, some require a personal visit)
- we recommend to apply one year before the start of the program,
- for Foundation and Pathway programs, IELTS and TOEFL certificates are usually required, respectively

- recommended submission one year before the start of the program,
- the deadline normally closes in January, for TOP HEIs and, as a rule, in March in other universities
