The High School Program in Los Angeles is a high school program taught at the Los Angeles branch of The Gilbert School. Education here allows students aged 16-17 to receive a diploma of completion of school education, high-quality knowledge of subject modules, self-confidence for admission to the university.

High School Completion Program, U.S. School Completion Diploma

  • Age - from 16 years,
  • Start dates – January, March, April, June, August and September,
  • The term of study is one year.

The course is aimed at teaching high school students preparing to enter the university. The preparation consists of completing school education, studying subject areas and developing the qualities necessary for studying at a university.

The teaching load is 15 hours of classes per week. Students attend lessons in groups of 15 people and individual meetings with teachers, mentors.  Students need to study compulsory disciplines, which in total amount to 16.5 credits:

  • General Mathematics,
  • Fitness & Nutrition,
  • Human relations,
  • Reading skills,
  • Earth Sciences,
  • Citizen Sciences,
  • Basic English,
  • American History,
  • World History,
  • Physical Sciences,
  • Practical English,
  • Biology
  • Literature.

In addition to them, students need to choose five electives, which are summed up in five credits:

  • Economics
  • Informatics
  • Chemistry
  • Music
  • Spanish
  • Trigonometry and analytic geometry,
  • Psychology
  • Art
  • American literature.

Together with all disciplines, foreign students can attend additional English classes that will improve pronunciation and listening comprehension, reading and writing skills. The acquired skills will make it easier to adapt to the university environment.

You can complete the program by gaining 21.5 credits. Graduates are awarded diplomas of completion of full school education, which allow them to enter the chosen university.

You can start education under the program in January, March, June, August and September. Classes are organized in the morning, and in the second half of the day, students will be able to spend their free time as they wish: visiting campus events and excursions, walks.
