The French Institute of Occitania is located in the heart of Montpellier, a few steps from the prestigious University of Medicine and the cathedral. The excellent location of the school and its wide variety of courses make it an ideal place to study French: students can choose between general French courses, French courses with specific objectives, or professional courses, and can decide between a few hours a week and more than 30 lessons and workshops a week. The IFO has facilities that include a free Internet café, self-study materials, a library and documentation on sightseeing tours.The school offers a monthly calendar of social and leisure activities to invite students to practice their French skills while visiting popular landmarks in and around the city.

Just for you, we have selected hosts living within a convenient distance to the school (40 minutes maximum) who will warmly welcome you in their house or apartment. A language stay with a French family is the best opportunity for total immersion and rapid progression in French skills.

Independent accommodations
Whether you’re coming with someone else or you just want to remain independent during your French language stay in Montpellier, we’ve selected just for you a variety of independent accommodations with trustworthy landlords, offering comfortable accommodations close to the school.
When you enroll at IFO, you will complete a questionnaire that will allow us to pre-select accommodation options that best fit your needs. Once you’ve made your choice, we’ll take care of booking the reservation.
Two weeks before your arrival in Montpellier, we’ll send you a confirmation with all the necessary information.
We’ll meet you upon arrival and take your to your lodgings, showing you the easiest way to get to IFO on Monday morning.

Hôtel le Guilhem, located just a few minutes’ walk from IFO in a small medieval street, will give you a warm welcome. In the heart of the city center but in a quiet street away from the bustle of the place de la Comédie, Hôtel le Guilhem is the perfect base for exploring the Ecusson, the oldest and most lively quarter of Montpellier.

Hôtel du Palais, located just 5 minutes from our school in the heart of the historic city center, has a warm, friendly atmosphere.
