How do schoolchildren from different countries spend their holidays?

The education system in any country is unique - each has dozens of differences from other states. These differences apply not only to study, but also to vacations: school students from all over the world are accustomed to taking a break from lessons in different ways.

Poland

In Poland, children rest in July and August. Since in other seasons the holidays are distributed unevenly throughout the country, it is easier for parents to plan their vacations: every Polish family can choose a place to travel, get to it without traffic jams, relax in half-empty resorts - while in one region schools go on vacation, in another children are still studying. In summer, not only schools are closed, but also preschools; There are "on-call" kindergartens, but they are often overcrowded and do not always have a convenient location.

Polish schoolchildren are accustomed to spending the summer at home. It is not customary for Poles to leave children in the care of grandparents. If parents decide to go on vacation in the summer, they will not go abroad - the inhabitants of Poland like to relax at home: mountainous areas, for example, the Tatra Mountains and the Carpathians, are the most popular, and for a beach holiday, Poles go to Gdansk, on the coast.

United States

In the United States, the rules for organizing vacations are different in general in almost every school - institutions have the right to choose the time of the beginning of the rest. However, the school year usually ends in early or mid-June and resumes at the end of August. Neither schools nor the state are involved in the organization of leisure activities for schoolchildren - the rest of children falls on the shoulders of parents. There are paid camps with a variety of programs, but they are quite expensive, only a small number of children rest in them.

In the U.S., most moms with multiple children either don't work or work part-time. During school holidays, buses do not run, so younger students usually stay with their mother, sit with a nanny or attend camps. Teenagers, as a rule, are more independent and can spend time at their discretion.

Canada

In Canada, summer holidays for schoolchildren begin at the end of June and continue until the first week of September. Many parents enroll their children in various camps for the holidays - from sports to creative. Enrolment in these camps begins in January, and many companies located on the coast offer children tours to observe the marine fauna - you can see whales, sharks, dolphins and other sea giants.

Shifts in the camp on average do not last longer than five days with an overnight stay. Camps are often located in picturesque places near lakes, and counselors organize a variety of activities for children: archery, theatrical performances, swimming and much more.

However, due to the high risk of forest fires, traditional bonfires were not lit in 2022-2023.

There are also day camps in which children spend time from 9 am to 4 pm: they offer educational and recreational programs, such as programming courses, rock climbing and kayaking.

Especially popular in Canada are "biblical" or religious camps organized by various church communities. They are similar to the other camps, but include religious elements such as daily worship services and Bible reading. The rules in these camps are usually stricter, but their cost is lower.

In the summer, most Canadian children like to go to libraries – it's not just rooms with books: libraries in Canada have children's areas where you can read, watch a movie or just spend time. Before the start of the holidays, schoolchildren are given special cards to mark the number of books read, which stimulates them to read.

Montenegro

In Montenegro, the school year for children usually begins on September 1 and ends in mid-June. During the summer holidays, children's camps are actively working in the country, many of which also accept tourists. The mountainous areas of the country are especially popular for campsites due to the cooler climate compared to the coast: in the mountains in summer the temperature can be about +25 degrees, while on the coast it reaches almost 40 degrees.

Working parents can send their children to day camps in the summer. Programs and costs can vary greatly: from budget to luxury. In addition, schools often organize field trips and camps for a modest fee, taking into account the different income levels of families.

In Montenegro, children are almost independent people: from the age of 5-6 they can walk alone, and parents do not worry about their babies - it is safe in the country. This allows children to spend time with friends, walk all day and even visit each other's homes, where they will always be fed and not offended.

Netherlands

In the Netherlands, summer holidays for schoolchildren last a month and a half and start at different times depending on the province. The vacation schedule may vary from year to year. Many children spend this time with their grandparents or go on vacation with their parents, and for those who stay at home, there are various free clubs and activities.

There are also international camps in the country where children are offered in-depth study of the English language. Shifts in these camps usually last two weeks.

UAE

The United Arab Emirates is a country of contrasts, where ancient traditions are combined with modern life. The city of Abu Dhabi is a prime example: schools in Abu Dhabi are very diverse, but they are all subordinate to one regulatory body, so the holidays start and end at the same time.

After finishing the school year in early July, children in Abu Dhabi go on vacation until the end of August. However, given the high summer temperatures, many migrants - the bulk of the city's population - often go home to escape the heat. However, not everyone decides to leave Abu Dhabi for the summer! For those who stay, there are plenty of opportunities to spend time productively and interestingly. Various camps with a variety of programs – from sports to educational – are available, but they usually only work half the day. In addition, the UAE is an expensive country, and the price tag for such camps is also high, so not all parents can afford to send their child there. Those who are unwilling or unable to send their child to camp often use the services of nannies: they allow parents to go about their business, knowing that their child is being cared for and monitored.
