Description of Greenwich University Summer Camp

Summer camp at London's Greenwich University is a great opportunity to relax not only with pleasure, but also with benefit. Balanced and effective programs allow you to quickly improve the level of English, if desired, students during the shift will be able to prepare for the Trinity or IELTS exams. In addition, a huge number of entertainments, excursions, trips, quests, parties are offered - this will make the years truly unforgettable and will allow you to meet new friends from all over the world!

Classic Programme

  • Age: 12-17 years
  • Dates: July 2-31 (2 weeks).

The classic summer course will help to quickly, effectively and with pleasure to improve the level of English for any student. Before the start of classes, all children are tested to get into the right group - so it will be more comfortable to study when you are surrounded by classmates with approximately equal levels of knowledge. At the end of the program, a corporate certificate is issued, which will become a significant part of the personal portfolio. There are 15 lessons per week, classes up to 15 students, all teaching materials and books are provided and are already included in the price.

The course (2 weeks) already includes:

  • 4 full-day excursions in London
  • 1 full day excursion to Brighton
  • 1 all-day trip to Cambridge.

The three-week program includes 2 more day tours of London and a trip to Oxford for the whole day.

Course fee per week:

  • Host family = 890£
  • Residence, personal number = 950£
  • Residence, room with bath = 1000£.

Premium Programme

  • Age: 12-17 years
  • Dates: July 2-31 (2 weeks)
  • Children per class: up to 15 people
  • Initial testing and branded certificate upon completion
  • 15 lessons weekly + possibility of additional options.

The Premium program does not increase the intensity of the lessons too much compared to the classic one (but you can always add useful options to the course), but it offers even more entertainment, excursions, trips and extracurricular activities!

The course (2 weeks) already includes:

  • 5 full-day excursions in London, including passes: London Eye Ferris wheel (tickets included), Thames cruise, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, lunch at Planet Hollywood or Hard Rock Cafe
  • 1 full day excursion to Brighton
  • 1 all-day trip to Cambridge.

The three-week program includes 2 more day tours of London and a trip to Oxford for the whole day.

Course fee per week:

  • Host family = 940£
  • Residence, personal number = 1095£
  • Residence, room with bath = 1125£.

Accommodation, meals, prices

Greenwich University Summer Camp offers accommodation:

  1. In residences on campus (single rooms (4-7 floors) or mini-apartments with bathrooms (5-9 floors)). In the rooms each student has a bed, wardrobe, desk. From 12 years.
  2. In the homes of host families (no further than 50 minutes drive from the school, rooms for 1-2 people). From 14 years.

Bed linen is provided with a weekly change, but students must bring their own towels. Laundry service: the card for use costs £2 and can be toped up via the mobile app (£3.20 for laundry and £1.60 for drying). Common areas are cleaned every day, bedrooms - every week. On each floor of the campus residence there is a common lounge for relaxation with a refrigerator.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served daily on campus.

The entire team of the camp and the university is trained in first aid techniques.

Activities Greenwich University Summer Camp

For all students at each of the shifts, interesting, exciting extracurricular activities are organized:

Passing the Trinity exam

  • 95£ per person.

Individual and group lessons: the option is available for a minimum of 15 students.

Academic English and IELTS Preparation

  • Minimum level to start with: from B1
  • Classes of 15-20 people
  • Minimum number to start the option: 12 people
  • Age: 15+ years
  • Duration: from 2 weeks
  • Price: 50£ per person per week.

30 hours of intensive classes will significantly increase your level of general and academic English, will allow you to prepare for the IELTS exam. This is a great opportunity to strengthen the summer course for those who subsequently plan to enter a British school, college or university.

The program will focus on all the main language aspects:

  • Reading
  • Listening (listening comprehension)
  • Written speech, grammar
  • Oral speech, fluency and literacy, getting rid of the accent and language barrier.

Students will analyze the structure and features of the exam, focusing on real IELTS materials for past years, build a strategy for successful preparation and passing the test. Students will learn to write essays of different types, work pronunciation and oral speech, learn how to manage their time and correctly distribute it, expand vocabulary.

Facilities and equipment at Greenwich University Summer Camp

The campus of a summer camp in south London, at the main sea gate of the city - royal Borough of Greenwich. It is only 14 km from the city center, easy to reach Victoria Station (34 minutes by train) or Chering Cross (half an hour). The Eltam area, where the camp is located, is a very green, peaceful place with lots of air, open spaces, street sports opportunities, restaurants, bars, pubs and shops. From the campus it will be easy to reach many of the capital's attractions, such as the National Maritime Museum and the Royal Greenwich Observatory, Greenwich Central and the ship Cutty Sark and Greenwich Pier stored there: this is where boats depart on days of cruises along the Thames.

The camp operates on the basis of the University of Greenwich (Avery Hill Campus). This is a cozy building of Victorian appearance, spread over the territory of Avery Hill Park in 86 acres. There are prepared opportunities for sports and outdoor recreation, cozy residences for living in a 10-minute walk from the educational buildings and the dining room. To the center of Greenwich there is a free university bus: you can go to one of the restaurants nearby, a good bowling alley is very close, see the historical sights of Eltham.

On campus for children prepared:

Very close to the campus you can find public transport stops: the railway station New Eltham Station. The road to the main local airports will take:

  • Heathrow = 1.5 hours
  • Gatwick and London City Airport (LCY) = 45 minutes
  • Luton = 1 hour 40 minutes
  • Stansted = 2 hours 15 minutes.

Admission dates and extra charges

Course start dates are July 2 and 17.

  • Deposit for the safety of property (only for residences) = 50£
  • Extra meals = £8/serving
  • Extra night = 45-55£
  • Individual lessons = 70£/hour.
