Jamie Perfect

Director of the International School of Bremen

What brought you to the field of education?

My passion for science and sharing this knowledge through education led me from my initial pursuits in Geology to a fulfilling career in teaching. My commitment to fostering learning, growth, and personal development in young minds has been the driving force behind my long-standing career in education.

How long have you been working in this establishment and how woud you describe your experience in this position?

I have been the Director of the International School of Bremen since April 2018, marking my sixth year at the institution. My tenure at ISB has been characterized by a dedication to embracing the diversity and richness of teaching in an international community. The experience has been both challenging and rewarding, as I have navigated the unique dynamics of an international educational environment.

What was the most rewarding experience this job gave you? Do you enjoy it?

One standout achievement at the International School of Bremen for me would be the setup of our boarding facility, enhancing our commitment to internationalism and diversity. This initiative transformed ISB into a hub of cultural collaboration, with students from varied backgrounds sharing, learning, and growing together. Witnessing this synergy and its enriching impact on students' lives has been deeply gratifying and makes my role at ISB immensely rewarding.

What would you advise to other colleagues in your field?

Never lose sight of the individual needs of each student. In an international setting, it's crucial to recognize and celebrate the diverse backgrounds and experiences that each student brings. It's this diversity that enriches our learning environment. Stay adaptable, open-minded, and always be willing to learn from your students and colleagues.
