Preparation for entry in universities Valencia – options
Many universities in Valencia offer to foreign students to take a year of preparatory courses on the university platform, which will subsequently allow you to enroll in a bachelor's or master's degree. Such courses are also called Foundation, which include preparation for admission to the faculties of law, MBA, medicine and other international programs in engineering, economics and finance, sociology and more.
Applicants are intensively taught academic English, allowing them to quickly adapt to a new environment and pass subsequent entrance exams. For the same purpose, classes on cultural interaction and integration are conducted – so that the future student feels at home in Spain already at the preparatory stage.
Additionally, the universities in Valencia offer the preparation to the exam Selectividad, which has a test form and involves checking knowledge of the Spanish language; the history of Spain or philosophy; a second foreign language (German, Italian, French or Portuguese) and a specialized subject. Pre–registration for the exam begins in March, at the same time the test dates are announced - in June, August or September.
Selectividad is difficult in its structure for Spaniards themselves, and even more so for foreign applicants. Comprehensive preparation for the exam will take about 8 months. The highest score for Selectividad is 14 points, 10 points is a passing grade for future doctors and engineers, and from 5 – for all other areas. Despite the fact that not all universities require a certificate from foreign students, it is mandatory for admission to the most prestigious specialties (medicine, engineering, architecture, etc.) and to the main universities of the country located in Madrid, Catalonia and Valencia.
Also, many universities in Valencia require certificates confirming high–level English proficiency - IELTS from 6.0. or TOEFL from 80.

The admission procedure for a bachelor’s degree to the universities in Valencia includes the following stages:
- Select several universities, contact them, find out the admission requirements and what subjects you need to take;
- Determine if there is a need for preparatory courses, find out in which city to take them, and start searching for courses;
- Legalize the school certificate in the Ministry of Education in the country of receipt;
- Translate the certificate and the application with grades into Spanish. A consular or sworn translation will be suitable;
- Start the homologation process of the school certificate;
- Register and take the entrance exams;
- Submit an online application with documents on the university's website;
- Begin the student visa application process.
