Bucerius Law School (BLS) is Germany's first private non-profit law school, founded in 2000 by one of the largest private foundations in the country. BLS students successfully pass state exams and continue to work with leading national and international legal organizations, government departments and universities.

Undergraduate

  • Dates: year-round
  • Duration: 3 years 3 months.

Studying at a law school allows you not only to obtain a bachelor's degree in law, but also to pass a specialized state exam, which is necessary for full-fledged professional activity in Germany. The BLS curriculum and training procedures are based on the relevant government regulation, which is crucial for passing the exam, namely the Hamburg Law on the Training of Lawyers (HmbJAG). In the tenth trimester, students take a university exam in their chosen specialty, the first part of the state exam.

Bucerius International Exchange Program

  • Dates: September 2 to December 20
  • Duration: 4 months.

The exchange program, open exclusively to students from partner universities at Bucerius, is focused on business law.

The Master of Law and Business (LLM / MLB) program prepares young professionals for an international career that requires an understanding of both legal and business concepts, as well as intercultural skills.

Summer programs

  • Dates: from June 29 to July 17
  • Duration: 3 weeks.

The Law School offers three challenging three-week summer programs in various areas of law:

  • International business law
  • International IP Transactions
  • Legal technology and operations.

Summer programs are designed for applicants who have completed at least two years of legal education at the undergraduate level or one year of legal education at the master's level. The summer school also welcomes graduate students and applications from young professionals.

Accommodation, meals, prices

BLS Law School reserves 15 student rooms at the Studierendenwerk student residence located in Berliner Tor, and another 8 rooms at the Altona private dormitory. Both residences are located in the city center near metro stops.

  1. Berliner Tor residence hall provides rooms for 3-4 people, a kitchen and a bathroom are shared.
  • The rent is 359 € / month.
  • The security deposit is 500 €.
  1. Altona Hall Residence provides 6 single apartments and 2 beds in double apartments.
  • Rental price 385 € -710 € / month.
  • Electricity and Internet 60 € -70 € / month per person.
  • New mattress = 150 €.

Activities Bucerius Law School

Sports teams of the law school in various sports at least once a year take part in the European Cup Champions Cup.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

  1. For admission to undergraduate programs you need knowledge of the German language and filling out an online application on the website of the law school.
  2. To enter the master's program you must:
  • 3-4-year bachelor's degree (must be evaluated at 240 ECTS or equivalent. A credit degree of 210 ECTS can be considered if the applicant has at least two years of experience in graduate school)
  • Experience in graduate school at least 1-3 years
  • Work experience in the field of law and / or business
  • Certificate of English
  • International experience is preferred but not required.

- some schools have a specific time frame (September-November - please specify an individual school)
- some schools require tests in several stages (UKISET, internal tests of the school: English, mathematics, logics, subjects, interview, some require a personal visit)

- for Foundation and Pathway programs, IELTS and TOEFL certificates are usually required, respectively

- the deadline normally closes in January, for TOP HEIs and, as a rule, in March in other universities
- for a bachelor, a Foundation or Pathway preparatory program a completed A-level, IB, High School + IELTS / TOEFL are required
- for Masters you need a graduated higher education, in some cases you need a pre-Masters program
- MBA requires completed higher education, work experience preferably at least 2-3 years, etc.
