Accommodation on campus is the most convenient place for students to stay while studying at any university. At AUS, more than 1,800 students live on campus, use academic buildings, a library, a food court, and a sports complex.

AUS dormitories consist of 7 dorms for men and 5 womens dormitories, staffed around the clock, seven days a week.

The American University of Sharjah is located in a city recognized as the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2014 and the Cultural Capital of the Arab World by UNESCO in 1998. There are more than 20 museums in Sharjah, including collections of artifacts and art, exhibits on science and natural history. The city hosts many cultural festivals, art and economic exhibitions, educational conferences, fairs, which are attended by world famous speakers.   • Undergraduate programs in Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering offered by the College of Engineering are accredited by the ABET Engineers Accreditation Commission. The Computer Science Bachelor program offered by the College of Engineering is accredited by the ABET Computer Accreditation Commission. The School of Business Administration is accredited by the Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business. The Bachelor of Architecture program at the College of Architecture, Art and Design is accredited by the National Architectural Accreditation Board.
  • AUS offers 45 undergraduate courses, 16 graduate programs and 3 doctoral programs in academic divisions: College of Architecture, Art and Design, Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering, School of Business Administration.
  • Although Arabic is the official language of the United Arab Emirates, the language of instruction at AUS is English.

Facilities and equipment at American University of Sharjah

There are many restaurants, fast food outlets on campus to suit different lifestyles and budgets. Students can order takeaway (home delivery) at numerous off-campus retail outlets.

Each dorm has a computer room, laundry room, pool table, foosball, Wi-Fi and snack vending machines. Most hostels have fitness rooms, cable TV.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Applicants provide:

  • Official certificate of secondary education, certified by the relevant authorities: American high school diploma - at least B or 80% of the final grade (12th grade) or on average for the best two years in 10th, 11th and 12th grades; British High School Diploma - 5 IGCSE / GCSE subjects (O level) and two GCE subjects (AS / A level); IB diploma in six subjects (excluding Islamic education) - at least 24 points; German Abitur - minimum score of 7 in the last year.
  • Official reports of the last three grades of high school, certified by the relevant authorities.
  • Color scan of the passport.
  • English language test results: IELTS Academic - 6.5, TOEFL iBT - 80, TOEFL iTP - 550, Cambridge English - 176, EmSAT Achieve-English - 1550.

Scholarships American University of Sharjah

AUS offers a range of grants and scholarships to help students pay for their tuition. The university allocates funds for highly qualified undergraduate students with limited financial resources.

New students can apply for a financial grant, a merit-based scholarship, and a family tuition grant (awarded to a younger sibling when a family enrolls two or more children in the AUS) to cover up to 75% of the tuition fees. After the first semester, students can also apply for an additional scholarship.
