The educational institution was founded in 1940 in the city of Maykop. The university provides education in 42 educational programs of secondary vocational and higher level.

The learning process is a combination of lecture and seminar courses, practical and laboratory tasks, educational and pre-diploma practice. 

The ASU learning process is based on the activities of the following faculties:

The journal "Proceedings of the Physical Society of the Republic of Adygea", "Dialogues with the Past", "SCIENCE: Complex Problems", etc. is also published.

For nonresident full-time students, the university provides 6 comfortable dormitories. The rooms are occupied by 2-3 people, one of the dormitories has its own library with a reading room. The average cost of living in a hostel per month is 1000 rubles. 

For catering, the university has two canteens and two buffets in different buildings. The total number of seats in them is 345. The average price of a set lunch in the ASU canteen is 200-250 rubles. 

To involve students in the social and scientific life of the university, ASU organizes and participates in the following events:

• Round table "Modern trends in the education of a professional in the system of higher education";
• Round table "Images of the Circassian world in historical and cultural discourse";
• "Youth Cup of the Republic of Adygea" in volleyball;

• All-Russian Scientific Conference with International Participation "Social Work in the Modern World: Theory and Practice";

• Russian Language Week, dedicated to Pushkin Day - the Day of the Russian Language.

The learning process takes place on the basis of 9 buildings of the university. Each building is equipped with classrooms for lectures and seminars, has rooms for laboratory and practical classes. The classrooms are equipped with the necessary material and technical equipment: projectors, screens, computers and audio systems. 

The university provides students with access to two educational libraries, in the reading rooms of which there are 210 seats.

For sports, ASU has the following facilities:

• Educational and sports complex;
• Sports complex "Rector Yachikov";
• Sports and recreation complex "Akuanda".

At ASU, the academic year is divided into two semesters: autumn and spring. At the end of each, an examination session is held, after passing the students, they are given vacations (in winter in January, in summer in July and August).

When studying at the university students undertake the following additional expenses:

• for leisure and recreation.

To enter the university, you must provide:

• Identity document, citizenship;
• State-issued document on education and qualifications;
• Documents confirming the use of the right to admission within a special quota;
• Documents confirming individual achievements, the results of which are taken into account at admission;
• SNILS (if any);
• Two photos – for persons entering the educarion based on the results of entrance examinations conducted by ASU independently;
• Medical certificate in the form No. 086 / U.

The necessary package of documents is provided to the university:

• Through EPGU.

At the moment, 12,000 students study at the university, including 2,000 from other countries.

Having been educated at this university, graduates become sought-after specialists in the labor market. To assist in the employment of its students, the university organizes internships in enterprises and organizations with the further prospect of employment, quarterly job fairs of educational and workplaces are held.

For admission to bachelor's and specialist's educational programs, an applicant must:

• Completed education is not lower than secondary general;
• Points received for the exam are not lower than:

For admission to master's programs, you must:

• Completed higher education;
• Successful completion of university entrance examinations with scores not lower than the minimum score set by the university itself.

For admission to postgraduate programs, you must:

• Completed higher education;
• Successful completion of entrance examinations, with scores not lower than the minimum score set by the university itself:

  • Foreign language.

As material support for students, the university allocates the following scholarships for students:

• State academic scholarship - 1920 rubles;
• State social scholarship - 2880 rubles;
• Scholarships of the President of the Russian Federation - 2000 rubles;
• Scholarships of the Government of the Russian Federation - 1440 rubles;
• Scholarship of the Republic of Adygea - 1200 rubles;
• Scholarships for students of the preparatory department - 2000 rubles.
