At the heart of the Pioneer Academy middle school program is a training course aimed either at obtaining basic knowledge of mathematics and languages, or at studying disciplines from the field of scientific and social research. In order for the lessons to be held for children and teenagers as efficiently as possible, teachers use several techniques:

  • Daily assessment to check the understanding of the material and possible adjustments.

Another assessment method used at the secondary school stage to assess progress in math, reading, and science is testing the NWEA MAP. Such a computer test is carried out three times a year: at the beginning of the year (September 29 or 30), in the middle (February 23-27), and at the end (May 18-22).

Pioneer Academy believes that the study of foreign languages is a great advantage, therefore its students from grades 1 to 8 study several additional languages. Types of programs:

  1. Kindergarten. The youngest students can choose to study Spanish, Arabic or Turkish
  2. From 1 to 4 class. Here students learn Spanish and electives in reading or writing, and also choose a second language - Turkish or Arabic.
  3. From 5 to 8 grade. Pupils choose to study two courses from the following list:

The Intensive English Language Learning Program (ELL) was designed to help students move from a low level of English to a medium level.

As part of the ELL course, students will study reading, literature, vocabulary, listening, speaking, grammar and writing, and other subjects of the general education program. Foreign students will also be trained for the IELTS / TOEFL exam.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The main part of Pioneer Academy students take only full-time education during the time period from 9 to 15 hours, the stay on the school territory before and after the main time is paid additionally. To accommodate foreign students, a residence is provided on campus, and the student residence is also used during the Pioneer Academy summer camp.

All students eat at the school canteen, where the menu is prepared by New Line Catering. The diet for students is varied and balanced, includes a lot of vegetables and fruits. If necessary, parents can leave their wishes on the nutrition of the student by registering on the website of the New Line Catering company. You can also buy an annual subscription for food, which will help parents to significantly save finances compared to the cost of daily meals.

Entry requirements, how to apply, what is required to enrol

Stages of enrollment in Pioneer Academy:

  • Fill out an online application on the school website
  • Sign up at the admissions office for an interview and assessment of progress in mathematics and languages (testing takes about two hours) *
  • A week after leaving the application to get an answer about the decision of the selection committee
  • If the answer is positive, prepare and send to the school a completed registration form + non-refundable registration fee
  • Accepted students must pay the first tuition fee: in case of delay, there is no guarantee for a place in the school.

* Additionally for students entering grades 1 through 8:

  • Pupils entering grade 1 must prepare a report on the students  academic performance and behavior at the pre-school level
  • Students entering grade 2 undergo an internal assessment of their abilities upon admission.
  • Students from grades 1 through 8 must submit a report card and a behavior report for the previous 2 years of study.

* Additionally for students entering grades 9 through 12:

  • Students entering grade 12 must provide SAT / ACT results
  • Pupils entering grades 9–12 must prepare grade sheets and behavior reports for the previous 2 years, as well as 2 letters of recommendation (from teachers in math / science and English).

Stages of enrollment for international students:

  • Fill out an online application on the school website
  • Send a report card (translate into English)
  • Submit English proficiency test results (TOEFL, IELTS or other certificate)
  • After receiving a positive response fill out the registration form sent by the employee selection committee
