Description of MWS Montreal Summer Camp

Effective and interesting, exciting summer courses MWS Montreal (Summer Camp MWS Montreal) is a great opportunity to bring English / French in a comfortable atmosphere, to make new friends from around the world, to see the main attractions and monuments of Canada. The camp is divided into three age groups:

  • Junior Camp (7-10 years)

An excellent option for beginners. Students are provided with a warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere, numerous leisure and entertainment activities, at least 2 excursions for the whole day weekly (Wednesday, Sunday).

  • Intermediate Camp (11-13 years)

A camp for active and sociable students, who want to find new friends from all over the world! Exciting and diverse program, effective language classes, active development of leadership qualities, independence, teamwork, mutual respect and mutual assistance are offered to foreign students.

  • Senior Camp (14-17 years).

Almost a preparatory course is designed for senior students who want to psychologically prepare for education in foreign schools, colleges and universities (especially Canadian schools). Interesting and useful excursions, a bilingual program of study, acquaintance with the best Canadian universities and the most interesting, unique cities of the country (Quebec, Montreal, Toronto) are organized.

Once a week, the general events are held, so that the students can chat with each other, establish friendship, learn from each other something new.

Summer course of English for students

  • Students age: 7-10, 11-13, 14-17 years old
  • Intensity: 15 lessons per week
  • Groups of up to 16 people
  • The minimum level of knowledge: any, from the initial (Beginner / Elementary, A1).

Students of the summer language course are engaged 15 hours a week: from Monday to Friday three hours a day. Lessons are held both in the morning (9-12 hours) and after lunch (14-17 hours): when enrolling to the program, all students are divided into groups according to the results of the entrance test, which makes the education as quick and effective as possible. In one classroom there are no more than 12-16 people, which gives the teacher the opportunity to practice an individual, personal approach and give each student maximum attention. All the teachers of the program have the necessary accreditations for working with foreign students and international groups, a great experience of teaching English / French as a foreign language.

The program lasts 1-5 weeks and is aimed at a comprehensive improvement of all major. basic language skills:

  • Grammar
  • Reading
  • Auditing (listening comprehension)
  • Vocabulary
  • Written speech
  • Oral speech (spoken English)
  • Phonetics (correct pronunciation, accent correction)
  • Improvement of communication skills.

Much attention is paid to verbal and colloquial education, linguaphone apparatus, computers and resources of the university library are actively involved. All excursions and most leisure activities are conducted in English, which intensifies educational progress - the communicative method today is considered one of the most effective and fastest.

A useful supplement to the main language lessons are project lessons: independently or in mini-groups, students create work on a variety of topics, actively using the knowledge gained in grammar or vocabulary. You can write a camp newspaper, create interesting oral presentations and reports, stage dramatic theatrical performances, participate in language contests and competitions, etc.

Summer course of French for schoolchildren

  • Students age: 7-10, 11-13, 14-17 years old
  • Intensity: 15 lessons per week
  • Groups of up to 16 people
  • The minimum level of knowledge: any, from the initial (Beginner / Elementary, A1).

The program is universal - it will help to quickly and effectively develop all the basic skills of the French language:

  • Grammar
  • Reading
  • Auditing (listening comprehension)
  • Vocabulary
  • Written speech
  • Oral speech (spoken English)
  • Phonetics (correct pronunciation, accent correction)
  • Improvement of communication skills.

Particular attention is paid to the development of oral speech, the expansion of vocabulary. In the educational process, a communicative and individual approach is actively used: in classes of up to 12-16 students, each receives a proper amount of personal attention from an experienced, qualified teacher (they all have appropriate accreditations, are native speakers). Also in French, all excursions and most leisure activities are held, as well as communication on the camp territory.

Classes are held on weekdays (Monday-Friday) for 3 hours a day: either in the morning (9: 00-12: 00) or after lunch (14: 00-17: 00). Initial testing of the level of knowledge distributes all children into groups according to the level of initial education - this makes learning more productive, quick and comfortable for students. The resources of the university library, computers and online programs, linguaphone devices for the development of listening and oral, colloquial speech are actively used.

Accommodation, meals, prices

All students of summer programs live in their own residences at McGill University: they are perfectly equipped, cozy and comfortable rooms for 1-2 people. In general, on each floor there are toilets and showers, lounges for rest and socializing, the cost of accommodation already includes laundry services and weekly linen change (but you will need to bring your own towels).

Three meals a day is organized in the spacious, bright dining room of the university (or during excursions in places of public catering). The diet is balanced and diverse, takes into account the needs and the taste preferences of students - there is also a vegetarian menu (if there are allergies or medical prescriptions, parents should notify the camp staff in advance to arrange a separate table for the student):

  • Breakfast: continental option - fresh juices, healthy pastries (wholesome and sweet), flakes and oatmeal, yoghurt and fresh fruit
  • Lunch: sandwiches, pasta with cheese, Mexican meat patties, meat and chicken, even hot dogs!
  • Dinners: ravioli, couscous and other healthy side dishes, pork, veal, chicken and beef, potatoes, fresh vegetables.

Many restaurants and cafes in Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City are regular school partners and provide food for students during excursions and long walks. This is a great opportunity to get acquainted with Canadian and world cuisine, to dine in a cozy family restaurant and enjoy excellent service.

Facilities and equipment at MWS Montreal Summer Camp

The summer camp is based on McGill University: it is considered the first English-speaking high school in Canada (founded in 1821). Its campus is located at the foot of Mount Royal in the heart of Montreal, very close to the metro and city attractions, monuments, entertainment points and catering.

Montreal is a large, developed Canadian megalopolis with a pronounced bilingualism of townspeople: it is equally common to hear both English and French speech.
