Description of Castle School Pembrokeshire

  • Location: Pembrokeshire, Wales,
  • Year of foundation: 2009,
  • Number of students: more than 100,
  • Language of instruction: English,
  • Type: mixed.

Castle School Pembrokeshire is a school that represents quality British education for children from preschool to high school age.

The school opened in 2009 on the territory in Cresselli, then in 2015 moved to the Sodston estate - one of the historical sights of Pembrokeshire. More than £ 500,000 was spent by the school principal to purchase the territory and modern equipment, which indicates his serious attitude to comfortable learning and innovative education.

Initially, the institution provided programs only for children from 11 to 16 years old, but thanks to the efforts of parents of students in recent years, both preschoolers and primary school students have begun to study at the school.

Educational process

Classes are often held outdoors. One day a week, students in all grades gather in log cabins and lawns to explore the natural sciences, the world around them, and learn new skills. Training takes place in a bilingual format - in English and Spanish.

Things to know about

Open Days provide a great opportunity for parents and students to visit campus to meet teachers, infrastructure, and students already enrolled. A team of dedicated staff will be guides ready to share their experiences and showcase the unique learning opportunities that the institution offers. Open days are held all year round.

Prospective students are also offered trial study days. At Castle School, we recognize that the transition to a new school can be a challenging stage for students and strive to make the process as smooth and comfortable as possible. Trial days are carefully designed to give prospective students a sense of a caring yet rigorous educational environment and community support.  From attending classes and participating in extracurricular activities to interacting with teachers and fellow students, transition days provide insight into school life, helping students feel more prepared for their future studies.

Pre-Prep Programme

  • Age —  from 3 years old,
  • The duration of the training is two years.

The preparatory programme, which involves the youngest pupils, uses a range of interactive and playful activities to make learning fun and interesting while preparing children for the next level of education.

In the preparatory group, priority is given to child-led learning, an experiential approach and holistic development, drawing on several pedagogical approaches such as Reggio Emilia, Montessori and Steiner/Waldorf. Classrooms are designed to be comfortable and varied, with a focus on natural materials and open resources.  The curriculum encourages children to ask questions, make connections, and explore the world around them as they gain experience and develop life skills.

Developmental stages are based on a set of statements that describe what children need to know and be able to do at different stages of their education. Teachers use these affirmations to assess pupils' progress, providing feedback and support to help each child reach their full potential.

Accommodation, meals, prices

The school is open only during the day, so students are not provided with places to stay.

On campus there is a large dining room with a kitchen, where the chefs prepare meals daily on the basis of healthy food: children will be able to have a full lunch or buy snacks, drinks and pastries. The cost of set lunches per semester is £ 210.
