What to see in Pattaya and its surroundings: 6 best locations

What to see in Pattaya and its surroundings: 6 best locations

Pattaya attracts many tourists not only with its beaches and vibrant nightlife: in the vicinity of this famous Thai resort, you can find tropical islands, architectural monuments of the past, majestic temples and nature reserves. Thanks to the convenient location of Pattaya, it will be surprisingly easy to visit all these attractions. We will share with you the places that you can visit when you want a variety of beach holidays.

Koh Lan

Koh Lan Island is located just a dozen kilometers from Pattaya. You can get there by ferry in 50 minutes, and if you choose a speedboat, the journey will take half the time. This compact island will delight you with 7 idyllic beaches with clear white sand, crystal clear waters, and a variety of water activities, including jet skis, banana boats, and kayaks. Parasailing, diving and snorkeling are available for outdoor enthusiasts.

At the very top of Koh Lan, you can see the statue of the Wandering Buddha, from where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Gulf of Thailand and Tawayen Beach. Near this area there is a Chinese temple, which can be reached by climbing many stone steps. At Naban Pier, visitors are greeted by the Wat Mai Samraan temple, where you can see many miniature Buddha statues.

Bangsaen

In plus or minus an hour by taxi or minibus, you can get from Pattaya to the seaside city of Bangsaen, which became the first Thai resort more than 50 years ago. The main decoration of this place is a magnificent beach with alleys of palm trees and incredibly clear turquoise water. In addition to beach holidays, it is recommended to visit the local Nong Mon market, climb the macaque-inhabited Khao Samuk hill and see the beautiful Chinese temples.

Another remarkable attraction is the Temple of Hell and Heaven: this architectural ensemble amazes with its statues that depict both the suffering of sinners in the afterlife and the joys of the souls of the righteous.

Siracha Tiger Zoo

Just half an hour's drive from Pattaya, you can observe wild and domestic fauna at Siracha Zoo. You can get here by motorbike, regular bus or as part of an excursion. The Siracha Zoo is designed so that its inhabitants, including hundreds of tigers, feel as free as possible, so no Zapashny brothers!

In addition to tigers, you can see elephants, crocodiles, camels, donkeys, pigs, and capybaras. Especially popular is the exposition where a tigress feeds milk to piglets, and a pig takes care of the cubs. Visitors can feed the cubs from a bottle and capture this moment in a photo. In addition, the zoo hosts shows with tigers and elephants, pig races, and if you wish, you can ride an elephant.

Bangkok

If you are tired of a beach holiday, "change the record" and immerse yourself in the dynamic atmosphere of the bustle of the city. It is about 150 km from Pattaya to the capital of Thailand, and it is easy to get to Bangkok by bus or with a tour group.

Bangkok amazes with its majestic palaces, temples, a giant golden statue of Buddha, green parks and the coziness of restaurants and cafes. Cultural performances and entertainment shows make this city even more attractive for travelers. To see all the beauty of the Thai capital, climb to the observation deck of the Bayok Sky skyscraper, the tallest building in the city. A cruise on the Chao Phraya River, which runs through the whole of Bangkok, is also highly recommended: this is the best way to enjoy the city views from the water.

Ayutthaya

Siam's ancient city, Ayutthaya, is a contrast between modernity and the dynamism of the capital: its quiet atmosphere and ruins of medieval buildings fascinate anyone who finds themselves here. At one time, this great city boasted three majestic palaces, many forts, and hundreds of temples, which was accessed through 94 pairs of city gates. Even now, being half-ruined, these architectural complexes are striking in their beauty, and the air is filled with tranquility and harmony.

To get to Ayutthaya, you need to change trains in Bangkok. The journey will take approximately 4 hours.

Koh Chang

Koh Chang is a true treasure of the Gulf of Thailand and one of Thailand's most spectacular islands. It is about 250 km from Pattaya, and although the bus ride may not be the most convenient, the bus and ferry transfer option is available.

Koh Chang offers magnificent views of wide sandy beaches surrounded by coconut palms, impressive waterfalls and lush jungle exotics. For those looking for an active holiday, elephant rides, snorkeling, swimming at the foot of waterfalls and mesmerizing evening fire shows are offered.
