Specific details
If you're planning to study at a private school or university in the UAE, it's necessary to obtain a student visa to UAE.
Foreign applicants prepare all the necessary documents for obtaining a visa and apply to the visa authorities, in particular to the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in each part of the UAE.
An important aspect to note when obtaining a visa is that a student visa to UAE can be issued directly to the applicant, their parents, or a sponsor. The sponsor in this case could be a university or a private school. Only those universities, colleges, and schools in the UAE that have accreditation can procure a visa for their students. This applies to both international students and those students who already reside in the Emirates but are on a different type of visa.
Securing admission to a university or school in the UAE doesn't automatically guarantee the issuance of a student visa to UAE. The visa is granted only upon meeting certain prerequisites, which include undergoing a medical examination within the UAE, completing security checks, and obtaining approval from the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in each part of the UAE.
The student residence visa, or the study visa to UAE, is initially issued for a period of one year, with the option to renew thereafter. Exceptionally, if an international student demonstrates high academic performance and stellar academic results, the visa can be extended for a period of up to five years immediately. Under usual circumstances, the visa can be renewed for an equivalent period (i.e., one year) following official confirmation from the relevant educational institution in the UAE where the student is enrolled, affirming the continuation of their studies.
It's important to note that a student visa to UAE does not confer the right to work in the country.
