Universidad de Salamanca (USAL)

The oldest higher educational institution in Spain is Universidad de Salamanca (USAL). This is a government institution, which was founded in 1134 as an ordinary school at the cathedral. And in 1255 during the reign of Alfonso X, the educational institution was given the status of a university. The present building of the University of Salamanca was built between 1504 and 1528. famous architects Alberto Churriger and Joaquin. The building has a unique architecture and is recognized as the most beautiful among the other educational institutions.

Today, Universidad de Salamanca is considered an honorable and prestigious place of study. It is in the top 20 best universities in the country, taking 16th place. Among the famous teachers are: Juan de Galavis (professor of theology), Francisco Elias de Tejada and Spinola (professor of philosophy of law and natural law), Paul Nunez Coronel (Hebrew professor), Miguel de Unamuno (writer), Beatriz Galindo (professor of Latin and rhetoric).

In total, Universidad de Salamanca has more than 30,000 students and about 2,000 teachers. Foreign citizens account for 9% of the total number of students. On the basis of the institution there are modern research centers and laboratories, educational audiences are also technically equipped. Also, the University of Salamanca maintains partnerships with leading international universities. In collaboration with Cambridge University in 1989 - USAL founded the Association of Language Testers in Europe.

The main campus of the educational institution is territorially located in the Spanish city of Salamanca. The following research centers operate on the basis of the university:

• Institute of Neuroscience of Castile and Leon;
• Laser center.

To enter the USAL entrant, you must provide a list of grades from the previous place of study, and then pass the entrance examination. Not only local residents, but also foreign citizens can apply for a place in a university. By the number of foreigners from different regions of the world, the university is on the list of the most international in the world. Education here takes place in Spanish (in case of insufficient knowledge of the language, you can take preparatory courses on the premises of the institution). The academic year consists of semesters.

The tuition fee for a bachelor is about 1000 USD / year, and for a master's degree - 3000 USD / year. On the basis of the university there is a scholarship program, which allows you to reduce the tuition fee. The institution is a participant in the program for the exchange of students and teachers.
