UCLA Summer is a summer camp for high school students whose specialization is business, management, acting, screenwriting, computer programming, fashion, digital marketing, etc. Classes are held in the format of academic and sports activities and entertainment.

The founding university, which celebrates its centenary, is proud of its qualified teachers and high-quality academic preparation for the university. Among successful graduates there are such famous personalities as Jim Morrison, Matt Damon, and others. For many years of practice since 1986, the camp has earned an excellent reputation, offering brilliant preparation for university studies. There is an advantage for graduates of camp programs - the points gained during the studying take into account the majority of US colleges and universities when they enroll.

The format of classes in groups of 20-30 people includes lectures, seminars, testing at the end of studying. The teaching staff includes certified UCLA professors who help to develop curricula, to optimize classes, to hold meetings where participants can ask questions. Coursework varied in intensity - from 2 to 6 weeks. Pupils of groups of short stay (2-3 weeks) have a smaller choice of entertainment and sports activities.

Pre-College Programs

  • Age of students: 14-18 years
  • Dates: 23.06-3.08, 06.30-19.07, 06.30-12.07, 22.06-3.08
  • Duration: 2,3,5,6 weeks.

University preparation programs are conducted both separately and with optional courses at will. For Pre-College Programs, students earn grades that are credited to college or university. 

A student forms a program for himself: for the main course he chooses 2 university courses and 2 additional (enrichment courses) - one 2-week and one 3-week.

Basic disciplines:

  • Digital and media marketing (Digital Marketing & Social Media). Students learn the basics of digital marketing, creating advertising companies. Learn strategies for using social software products - such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, mobile applications - understand the rules of electronic mailings, get acquainted with the concepts of SEO-optimization and other tools for creating advertising projects.
  • Business in the field of entertainment, media and sports (The Business of Entertainment, Media, & Sports @ UCLA Anderson School of Management). The course provides an overview of the entertainment, media and sports industries. Students learn the basics of finance, marketing, strategy, economics, business ethics, management, work out real situations from the practice of large corporations such as Disney, Warner Brothers, etc. The program includes visits to YouTube Studios, Dodger Stadium, Paramount Studios.
  • Acting, audition for films, TV, theater (Acting and Auditioning for Film, TV, & Stage). During the course, the student acquires the skills and abilities necessary for successful work. Classes include lectures, practice, communication in workshops with working specialists: directors of casting, television producers, directors of paintings, acting agents.
  • Scripts for films and TV (Screenwriting for Film & TV). The course includes the study of the concepts of creating scenarios: the character, storylines, dialogues. Students write their own scripts, which evaluate the real scriptwriters and students of the group. The program includes a visit to the Sony film studio, as well as screenings in the audience.
  • Culinary and bakery (Cooking & Baking). The course is taught by professional culinary instructors: they share knowledge that enables them to start a career in the culinary industry or to apply at home. The total price includes products, equipment and tools that are used for cooking.
  • English language (English). The course of immersion in the language through the study of American culture. Classes help international students to gain the academic skills necessary to enter American or European universities, to develop critical thinking. Learning on two levels: additional classes in business, programming, etc. add the practice of communication and special knowledge.
  • Management in the field of sports, entertainment, entrepreneurship (UCLA Bruin Leadershi). There are various management directions to choose from: business, entertainment or sports. Studying includes seminars, workshops, developing students in these managers.
  • Computer programming. Course is designed for those who are interested in the creation of mobile applications and computer programs. Intensive classes develop basic programming skills in Python and JavaScript. A good start for further study of computer languages and work in the market of digital products.
  • Insider (Hollywood Insider). On the UCLA Summer camp course, students learn to write notes, conduct hot news columns, learn to work as a journalist, and conduct interviews. In the process of classes, students understand the differences between “sharp” rating news from ordinary, non-interesting readers, professionally writing articles for blogs, etc.

Program for high school students ( Middle School Enrichment program)

  • Dates: June 30 - July 19
  • Duration: 3 weeks.

The program is designed for students on the development of skills and abilities in various fields, including 2 disciplines + 2 sports. Groups consist of 8–20 people, classes take place every morning for 75 minutes with a lunch break, programming lessons take 2.5 hours from Monday to Thursday. The program is aimed at the development of critical and independent thinking, physical recovery, the acquisition of new sports skills. Studied disciplines:

The cost of living in UCLA summer is included in the paid package - the student has the opportunity to choose 2 accommodation options:

  1. Separate room
  2. Cohabitation - from 2 to 10 people.

The rooms have a separate bathroom, while the other rooms are for common use - a kitchen, a lounge, a work area, a laundry room, and a hall. The rooms are air-conditioned, bed linen, blankets, pillows are provided. Free WiFi is available on campus. From Monday to Friday, students are provided with 3 meals a day in a separate dining room, on weekends - on campus. Varied menu:

  • Fast food: pizza, salads, muffins, etc.

Activities UCLA Summer

The price of your stay at UCLA Summer includes excursions on weekends; several times during their studies, students with a curated guide travel to inspect the nearest significant places and sights that can be ordered according to the catalog. Among them:

The camp organizes sports events, activities and competitions in various sports: squash, basketball, tennis, football, golf, etc.

All trips are organized by UCLA transport, the cost of transportation is also included in the total payment. Camp UCLA is located next to the most famous vacation spots of the American film industry:

  • Westwood
  • Bel air.

Here you can make acquaintances that are useful for your future profession, have fun in the cinema, attend a film premiere with celebrities, have dinner in a restaurant. In these places, which belong to the home area (allowed for walks), UCLA campers can spend time, but not individually, but in groups.

Facilities and equipment at UCLA Summer

In the camp UCLA there are 3 dining rooms (Rieber dining hall), halls for sessions and games, a library, a laundry room, sports halls with exercise machines: a treadmill, an exercise bike. On campus there is a swimming pool, sports grounds - a tennis court, basketball and football fields, where the famous teams of Manchester United and Real Madrid train from time to time.

Studying in the camp is organized in the summer from June to August: the starting and ending dates may vary depending on the course.

Enrolled in the camp UCLA Summer can be any foreign student from 14 to 18 years. For 33 years, thousands of students from 40 countries received certificates of completion, but some programs are available only to US residents.
