Description of Private School The Harvey School

  • Established: 1916
  • Location: Caton, New York, USA
  • Age of students: 12-18 years
  • Number of students: 360 people

The Harvey School is a private co-educational school for secondary education from grades 6 to 12.

The long history of the school begins in 1916 as a private school for boys, founded by a pediatrician from New York City Herbert Carter and his wife Mabel. They built a school right on their farm to provide a decent education for their disabled son.

The institution received its name in honor of Sir William Harvey - the personal physician of King Charles I, recognized as one of the pioneers of modern medicine. The first students of The Harvey School were 12 boys.

Today, Harvey School offers its students a program that will motivate them to learn throughout their life, to inspire to develop the confidence and leadership qualities that are so necessary to achieve success in today's rapidly changing world.

For the best productivity of the process, groups are formed small - up to 10 people. Professional teachers work with students. The ratio of students and teachers is 6: 1.

What are the most important factors parents should consider when choosing a school?

That the school views their students as individuals instead of cash flow. Unfortunately, there are institutions whose main priority is to sell their programs and lose sight that this is a big step for the students and their families. Embarking on a new journey in a new country can be frightening, so having the support of the staff members and students will be vital to a successful studying-abroad experience.

Review about Private School The Harvey School

I went to school 3 years ago. The school has an excellent art center Walker Center, I studied vocals there. The center has professional equipment and excellent teachers. The school itself is also not bad. The teachers are different.. with most problems did not arise, but sometimes there were unpleasant moments. Good host families, treat students well =)

Excellent school, located in the suburbs of New York. The school has its own peculiarity: you live on a boarding house for 5 days, on weekends you go to the host family. Families are cool, never had a problem with that, usually. The family is fixed for a year, but there were cases when the family changed. Very few foreign students, five percent, if not less. Because of this, in particular, they came up with such a format of a five-day week at the boarding house.

My daughter studied for a semester at this school. We were looking for a school in New York and the surrounding area. Our uncle lives there, so the format of a five-day boarding house suited us very well!) The school is located away from the center of New York in a calm green area. Near forests and parks, the place is very good for studying and living. There are many clubs and sports in the school. Perfectly select host families for the weekend. We agreed that most of the weekend the child would live in the family of relatives, but sometimes we had to use the services of a host family. The daughter was very satisfied) She came across sociable typical American families who always tried to surprise her with American food and really paid her a lot of attention and care))
