What brought you to the field of education?
I have decided to move from the Hospitality field to the Education sector as I found many things in common. They are both customer service focused which is what I like the most.
How long have you worked in this establishment and how would you describe your experience in this position?
I have been working in this field since 2009. It's a continuous journey that leads me to always learn something new.
What was the most rewarding experience this job gave you? Do you enjoy it?
They are all rewarding experiences. Counselling parents and their children to discuss study abroad opportunities is priceless and something that always gives me a feeling of pride.
What advice would you give to other colleagues in your field?
To be a good listener with parents and to work closely, as a Team, with the Admissions people at the Schools.
What is the best time to apply to European schools? What should students prepare for?
The earlier the application, the more likely a school will have space to accommodate the student. Many schools will have waiting lists, so we always advise early applications to ensure you have the best chance at your first-choice school. An admissions process will look at both academic performance, English language ability & the motivations, behaviours & personality of a student. To prepare for a specific program they will need to ensure they meet the entry criteria.
What subjects have students chosen most often in recent years?
STEAM related subjects have shown an increase in popularity over recent years within International student communities. There is still high demand for students wanting to progress on to study medicine, business & economics although Fashion & Art have become increasingly popular.
Do all schools strive to be ranked among the best?
Schools strive to perform to the best of their ability – but sadly this is not always reflected by rankings. Looking at year on year academic performance for individual schools can show their performance more specifically.
How has the number of students been affected by COVID-19? How do boarding schools help children and families during this period?
We are seeing an increase in students looking for boarding to help accelerate their education after damage done by poor online schooling. We provided a high level of online support for our students who were at home during the pandemic & we also had many students living in boarding throughout the pandemic because they were unable to travel. Inspired Education Boarding schools were highly praised for their smooth transition to providing online learning & still maintaining an interactive community outside of physical school.
Is it hard to get a scholarship if you are a talented student? What are the usual discounts?
Academic scholarships are highly sought after & we recommend advanced applications to increase likelihood of being successful. Most schools will offer between 10-20% as an average.
