For students aged 14 to 18 who want to qualitatively prepare for college, one of the best places to study is the private boarding Cate School. The institution was founded in 1910 by Curtis Keith and was originally intended only for boys. Today it is one of the most famous, prestigious and popular schools of mixed education: there are about 265 boys and girls of different races, nationalities and religion studying here (foreign students come here from 17 world countries).

The campus, with a total area of ​​60 hectares (or 150 acres), is conveniently located in the picturesque and quiet suburb of Santa Barbara, Carpinteria. Cate's private school is located on the small hill Mesa, which offers spectacular views of the surrounding nature and the well-tended landscape.

Pupils and graduates demonstrate a high level of education and academic achievement - the average score of SAT is 1840-2150. In one class, an average of 10-12 people, which provides each student with a proper amount of attention from the teacher, careful monitoring of his progress and success. The ratio of teachers to students is 1: 5. More than 85% of teachers have a doctoral or master's degree, which allows them to teach at the highest level, transferring the entire volume of their knowledge and experience to students.

The academic program here is very diverse and rich - students can study about 100 subjects, including 19 disciplines at the AP level (Advanced Placement). The studying is conducted on weekdays, but twice a month for academic studies are allocated and Saturdays.

Cate School belongs to the category of selective: every year the admissions committee receives about 2000 applications from around the world, about 450 of them are admitted for examination, and only 75-80 applicants receive the desired place on the course. Such rigidity of selection allows to find the most gifted, persistent, talented children, to raise the general level of progress, to create a productive educational atmosphere.
There is no strict adherence to any religion (as well as a strict uniform) - the children of all faiths and confessions learn at school.

Students have access to 2 multifunctional sports complexes, play fields and playgrounds, an aqua center, which includes 2 spacious pools, and tennis courts. The main building, the Seeley G. Mudd Science Building, has excellent facilities and equipment for conducting all sorts of scientific experiments, laboratory research. The library provides an opportunity to work with funds remotely, online, and a special computer class. The Keck Computer Lab is equipped with modern applications for more effective learning in all subjects.

Remember that Cate School uses a fairly rigid student selection framework - all applications must be submitted no later than January 15 (and best of all, before January 1). The following documents are attached to the completed application:

  • Receipt for payment of registration fee;
  • Extract from previous place of study;
  • Recommendations of teachers and class teacher;
  • SSAT / ISEE exam results;
  • Certificate of sufficient level of English (TOEFL 100 iBT and above).
