Education information

Higher education in the United States is available to anyone who chooses it. There are many plans for financial and material assistance, including student loans, grants, and scholarships, that are available at US educational institutions. People often travel to the United States in search of a variety of higher education programs that are plentiful here.

Studying in the United States provides students with a rich cultural and social experience, as well as providing a quality, comprehensive, complete approach to education that is difficult to find elsewhere. The United States offers a full range of higher education opportunities that fully prepare students for professional development after graduation, giving them the choice to stay and work in the United States or return to their home country and begin professional development there.

Some of the most prestigious universities in the United States are Harvard, Yale, and Purdue University. However, there are many other universities in each state that offer a wide range of study programs and specialized courses in the chosen field. For example, the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) is famous for its high quality film programs, but it should be noted that Steven Spielberg and George Lucas graduated from California State University, which once again proves that quality education can be obtained not only in universities. Ivy leagues.

Getting Master's degree in USA

Master's degree programs in USA is a dream for many diligent and ambitious foreign students. US universities attract with excellent reputation, high ratings and educational standards. For those planning to emigrate, an American diploma is the key to successful employment. And years of study simplify social adaptation in American society.

At US universities 16% of undergraduates are foreign students. They successfully complete their master's degrees in a variety of specialties: engineering, social, IT and management.
The term of study for a master's degree in USA is 1-2 years. At the same time, education is more applied in nature, and the specialization of courses is narrower than that of a bachelor's degree. Graduates of a master's degree in America are highly qualified specialists, fully ready to put their knowledge into practice.

Cost of a Master's degree in USA

An American master's degree is an expensive pleasure. On average, a year of study costs $ 45 - 20 thousand. excluding accommodation, meals and other expenses. This is an unaffordable amount for families, so American students themselves look for discounts and scholarships, study with money from states and private foundations. Long-term loans are often taken for education, but they are available only to US residents. There are two possibilities for foreign applicants for a master's degree to obtain funding:

University scholarships for master's degree

Grant from the state or a private foundation. These are not empty words, but a real opportunity: grants are actually received by about 40% of all applicants. Please note that most of these programs involve the active participation of a master's student: assisting the supervisor, reviewing junior year papers, etc.

Preparation for admission must begin a year before graduation. First, look for a university and a scholarship. You can apply to 8 educational institutions at once. For talented and ambitious students with outstanding academic success, the road may even open up to Harvard or Stanford. After all, private universities have huge funds and are much more willing to issue scholarships than public universities with budget funding.

Rate the chosen university according to the following criteria:

  • The cost of the course.
  • The program for the desired specialty.
  • Scholarships and discounts you can qualify for.
  • The amount of time for which you can live in a chosen city.

Motivation letters for Master's degree in USA

Each university has its own requirements. It is your responsibility to study these requirements carefully. Some points may require the participation of others - in my case, it was necessary to go through an interview, as well as provide three recommendations from the professors with whom I interacted during my studies, or from senior colleagues at work. During the interview, I was advised to take one of the recommendations from partners in order to highlight my application.

Tests

You need to pass an international test of language proficiency - IELTS or TOEFL. TOEFL is clearer to me, so I chose it. If you decide on several universities before testing, the system will send your result to the selected universities for free.

The structure of the academic year

The academic year in the United States usually begins in autumn, usually at the end of August, but some courses may start earlier. Sometimes the academic year is divided into two semesters, four or three academic quarters. This is important to know for students who come to study in the United States, and who need to have a complete understanding of the specifics of the educational process before starting their studies. Therefore, it is important to contact the university and get full information about the start dates of the semester, exams and other nuances.
