5 Safest Cities on Earth: Latest Ranking

5 Safest Cities on Earth: Latest Ranking

Every year, sociologists conduct a study in which they identify the most reliable and safe cities in the world. In their work, scientists study various aspects: well-being, protection of personal safety, the state of infrastructure, the quality of healthcare, the level of data protection and advanced technologies.

Which cities have become the most comfortable in terms of these indicators in recent statistics?

Osaka

The safest city in the world, according to scientists, is located in Japan - this is the metropolis of Osaka. Here, people are so accustomed to safety that they can safely leave their belongings unattended on the street and go to a café to order a drink — no one will touch someone else's.

Business-oriented Osaka is famous for its fast work pace: public transport runs here late into the night: businessmen often return home after midnight by train, and stations remain as busy as during the day. Late subway rides for women, even alone, are the absolute norm in Osaka, because even in a night subway car, a girl can feel safe here.

For Japan, by the way, this is a great achievement.

In Osaka, despite the stereotype of closed Japanese, people are open to dialogue: when a traveler enters a small bar in the city center, he will feel that he is accepted as an old friend — the language barrier does not prevent the locals from immersing their dear guest in an atmosphere of friendliness. Those who want to immerse themselves in the authentic life of Osaka are recommended to visit the Ikuno-ku and Abeno-ku districts, where traditional dwellings - nagaya - have been preserved. Housing prices here are quite affordable, and friendly neighbors will help a new neighbor get to know Osaka better.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam stands out from other huge capitals for its small size, which contributes to the creation of a safe and comfortable urban environment: the atmosphere here is conducive to relaxation and peace of mind. The ease and inner freedom of Amsterdam people allow them to remain calm in everyday life, even in stressful situations they remain unperturbed. This, by the way, is also characteristic of the local police, who are always nearby, showing extreme politeness and accuracy in their requirements to residents and guests of the capital.

Among all the districts of Amsterdam, De Pijp and Oud-Zeid stand out, surpassing the rest in terms of safety. Areas to the east and north, such as Noord, are popular with visitors, while Oud-West is quite close to the center and is adjacent to the Vondelpark, Amsterdam's largest park.

Sydney

Sydney is Australia's largest city and combines the scale of a metropolis with warm neighbourly relations, creating an atmosphere of confidence and security among its residents. The habit of locals to help each other and pay attention to others makes life in the city especially calm and pleasant: if someone arouses suspicion in the city, he will immediately report his concerns to his neighbors - information quickly spreads throughout the city, thanks to which most crimes are nipped in the bud.

Foreigners who have decided to settle in Sydney often stay in the Potts Point area, located just a few kilometers from the center: here the architectural style of Art Deco is found on the façade of every residential building, and a large number of cozy cafes create an atmosphere comparable to the aesthetics of New York. For lovers of the beach lifestyle, the preferred areas will be Waverley and Bronte, famous for their surf spots, which are 8 km from the center.

Singapore

The city-state of Singapore has earned a reputation as one of the safest places on the planet due to its strict approach to law and order. The protection of public welfare is a top priority here, so police officers receive a decent financial reward for their work, which helps to maintain their motivation to perform their work efficiently and conscientiously. In Singapore, you can safely leave your personal belongings unattended: when you return, a local resident will find them in the place where you left them - such carelessness is possible thanks to high crime detection statistics and strict punishment for any offenses, even for minor offenses. The political stability of Singapore, its zero tolerance for jokes on religious and racial topics create an atmosphere of mutual understanding and respect in the city - no tourist will hear insults addressed to him here.

Tiong Bahru is a neighborhood in the heart of Singapore known for its hipster vibe, many unique shops, and stylish cafes. For those who prefer a more sophisticated lifestyle, Duxton Hill, located next to Outram Park, is an area famous for its opulent colonial-era homes and a variety of global culinary traditions.

Stockholm

The Swedish capital shines all year round: in summer, the city is bathed in the rays of the sun, and in winter, it is illuminated by cozy yellow lanterns. However, in addition to the unusual light regime, Stockholm offers its residents and travelers the highest level of security. For example, Swedish parks are equipped with playgrounds located away from busy roads – they are surrounded by hedges, making them safer for children.

Stockholm is considered to be a fairly calm city - locals call the measured rhythm of life its advantage. The city, although small, is teeming with innovations, and the Swedes are real pioneers in mastering the latest technologies, which often set the direction for new trends.

Most of the population prefers to live in the areas adjacent to the central business district, however, those looking for better value for money can look no further than Kungsholmen, located just two kilometers west of the center. Södermalm, located in the south, attracts with its bohemian atmosphere, in which vintage shops and avant-garde art galleries coexist comfortably. The city's coastal areas have recently undergone a major redevelopment, making Hammarby Sjöstad one of the most fashionable and environmentally friendly areas in Stockholm with cozy pedestrian areas.
